Just make me feel good. Like, just make me have fun. Help me have fun. There you go. All right. Fall camp hasn't been fun for the running back room at Texas. Just your thoughts, first and foremost, C.J. Baxter being out for the year. Yeah, man, it's a tough situation. Obviously, C.J. is a guy that's very young, true sophomore, had a ton of opportunities last year, started the season off as the starting number one running back.
got injured, dinged up last year. So this being his second time having a significant injury where obviously he's going to miss the whole season this year. It's kind of a bad start to his career. It's probably not how he envisioned being the number one running back according to ESPN rankings whenever he came out as a top recruit. But the preparation that I saw in his face, in his work,
The way that he approached the game his sophomore year, getting in preparation for it during spring ball. This dude was on another mission. He was...
well beyond his the most was how poised of a breakout year I expected from him because of the level of maturity that he owned how he spoke with people the way he prepared for practice and the way that he prepared this off season had a chance to talk to him even on our podcast the third and longhorn um and just mentioning you know his roots his background getting a little bit of information from him that I hadn't known that wasn't publicly available and man I
It made me excited for the season that he could have. But unfortunately, obviously, we don't get to control everything, and things happen for a reason. He had the knee injury. He goes down, and I'm expecting guys to step up in a big way to fill in the shoes and the leadership role, more importantly, that C.J. Baxter's leaving behind this year. What do you make of – look, we know Jaden Blue's good. We've seen some of him. But what else do they have at the position?
Yeah, Trey Weisner is a guy that is underrated and undervalued. And I say that because nobody has heard of him, yet he hasn't done anything on the main stage to kind of garner the attention of national media. If you follow along Texas closely, because you have to look closely, he doesn't get many reps.
He is in on every special team zone. He is one of the special team aces last year for this team, whether it was kickoff, punt, punt return, kickoff return, it didn't matter. That's where he made his presence felt, and it reminded me a ton of Roshon Johnson whenever Roshon Johnson had his impact breakout year. Obviously, he had to battle with Bijon Robinson for carries, but
That one-two punch was one that proved very effective for the Texas team as well as for his personal career as he gets drafted and is playing for the Chicago Bears now. But his foundational piece started, he came in as a quarterback, number one, Roshon Johnson did, but the way that he got on the field was because he was excellent at special teams. And that's the same way and the same route that Trey Wisner got on the field last year was,
He was a special team dog. He was an ace on special teams. And that core carries. No Keelan Robinson, no Roshon Johnson, no Bijon Robinson, no Jonathan Brooks. Now you got no C.J. Baxter. You got Jaden Blue, and now it's Trey Wiseman's turn to be able to turn up a little bit and showcase what he can do. And, man, you want to talk about a guy that gives full effort every single play. It doesn't matter if it's pass clocking or if he's running the rock or if he's catching it out of the backfield.
He has all the intangibles to have a breakout year similar to what Roshon Johnson did whenever Rowe came on the scene his first time getting significant carries in a season.
Fozzie Whitaker with ESPN, former Texas running back, joining us now on the Buyer's Right Hotline discussing Texas fall camp. CJ Baxter out. We know that. But there are a lot of other players in on this offense. Just the continuity chemistry between quarterback, receivers, a couple of other of the new players that have come in, tight end specifically. How have you seen that play out so far in fall camp for Sark's group?
You know, the addition of Amari Nyblack has been a huge boost to the morale of that tight end room. You look at what Jatavian Sanders had did over his three years in the level of production. I mean, he's top five in every tight end category, only played three seasons in total.
freaking a statistical leader. He's one of the best to ever do it at Texas. And if he had stayed another year, he definitely would have shattered every single tight end record that Texas has to date. And so that goes to show you the level of talent and the involvement that Steve Sarkeesian loves to have that type of tight end body, one that's athletic, one that can run, one that knows how to be able to be versatile in multiple facets of the game. And I think the addition of Amari Nightblack,
still gives Steve Sarkeesian and his offense that opportunity to have a versatile Y slash H type of back to be able to continue to stretch the defense. And ultimately, Sarke looks at matchups, right? Who can I exploit? How can I get my team into the best situation on every single play and allow them to have success and work on one of their worst matchups that they want to protect? And Amari Nyblak is
It's one of the ones where whenever they're in that 12 personnel or even 11 or flex 10, whatever you want to put them in, Amari Nightblack is that guy that will, in my opinion, create that mismatch, whether it's a linebacker or even safety. In practice, I've seen him route up some safeties and find them.
But he should fill that role that Jatavian Sanders left from a receiving perspective and give Quinn Ewers or Orange Manning that outlet to be able to get some of those third downs, those short yardage type of situations, find the secure hand, and then go and get it. Gunnar Helm has been there. He and Jatavian Sanders actually came in in the same class. They have meant a lot to each other. Gunnar Helm knows his offense in and out.
He's going to probably be your most prominent tight end in whenever there's a blocking play or blocking schemes to be had. And then he has sure hands, too. So being able to utilize both of those guys off of each other in the same way that they were utilized last season, I think it's just a major bonus for Quinn Ewers and Steve Sarkeesian to have some consistency and continuity from the success that they were able to have last year rolling over into this year.
Fonzie Whitaker, former Texas running back, joining us on the Buyers' Right Hotline, now with ESPN, Sears XM. Defensively, there's a lot to be excited about. Don't know exactly how much better the secondary can be, but up front, it's going to be a different front, a little bit of a different look for Texas. What have you seen so far this fall? Yeah, the biggest guy, or let me say this, the biggest impact that a guy is going to make on this Texas defense is going to be UTSA transfer Trey Moore.
He is an absolute monster. Nightmare. Physically, he doesn't necessarily look like Will Anderson Jr. He doesn't look like Dallas Turner. Doesn't
look like some of the number one overall top draft picks that we've seen go in the NFL draft in the past few years. But his impact, his presence, the way that he carries himself, and then obviously his production, the number of sacks that he had last year at UTSA, you hope that carries over, which I do believe it will because his mindset is on a whole other level. And the biggest reason why I say Trey Moore is going to have the most
for this defense is because his motor never stops. It doesn't matter if it's first down, second down, third down in practice. He gives the same effort day in and day out. And he had to get removed from practice twice in two practices that I went to in spring ball because he was hitting people too hard. And that's not what Steve Sarkeesian wanted to have happen for his offensive players so that they can get a good look.
But that's the type of mentality, that's the mindset that this guy has. He only knows one speed, and that's 100 all out. And I think Trey Moore is poised, whether it's in a rotational role, whether it's in a full-time starting role, whatever his role is going to be on this Texas defense, which I think he will garner more snaps as the season goes on,
he's going to be one of the most impactful guys, especially getting to the rush where Texas had so much success at from the interior part of the line.
But you don't got Devondre Swett. You don't got Byron Murphy anymore, right? Baron Surreal is going to have to step up. Alfred Collins, they're going to have to step up. Vernon Broughton, that defensive line is going to have to step up. But I think that rush is going to be truly spearheaded by the likes of Trey Moore and what he provides on a consistent basis and how his motor just never stops.
I do think they will have improvement. And to your point, Greg, one of the things that
kind of plays out, y'all know how football goes, right? Texas was an absolute beast at stopping the run. Well, if offenses can't run the ball, then obviously they're going to have to throw it if they want to try to stay on schedule. So I think some of those stats that we saw last year was a little inflated just because Texas could take away the run. Well, you don't got them dogs up front no more that can't run in the same type of capabilities that
that we have seen them do it this past season. So I think the run per average per game is going to take a little bit of a hit. It won't be as
87 yards, I think, was what they finished off with. I don't think we get to that number with this Texas defensive line. But what that means is hopefully a more offensive balance approach for teams to be able to allow this secondary to kind of show its true colors. And I think you mentioned it, Derrick Williams Jr.,
absolute beast, young guy, got his feet wet, still trying to learn the situations a season ago, but now he's matured and had an opportunity to speak with some of the old heads. And then Malik Muhammad is a guy that I think is an absolute stud waiting to break out. He has the potential to be a lockdown corner, no matter where he's at, especially in man. I truly feel that's where he excels. And he's a ball hawk. He knows how to catch the ball. So I do think
The improvement that those two guys will go from year one to year two will help this secondary improve overall because the numbers were bad last year from a yards per game perspective and how quarterbacks were able to stay and have some of their best, most prolific games against this secondary. My question mark, though, goes into that other safety. Is it going to be McCougar, who I think it is, the transfer from Clemson? I do
I do believe he provides the best value. I do believe he provides the best playmaking ability to be able to have that type of experience.
leading Derrick Williams Jr. on the opposite side, and then Gavin Holmes, another guy that's very experienced and transferred in from Wake Forest a season ago, and you've got a couple other transfers with some experience to be able to help the young guys who I think will make a pivotal impact. And then the best secondary guy that Texas has, Jadae Barron, he's going to have to continue to step up and shine in big games like he did a season ago and use that leadership role to the best of his ability.
of his ability, and I think this secondary definitely shows improvement, number one, because they are better, but then number two, I think the offenses that they face will have to be a little bit more balanced in their approach. Fozzie, great stuff, man. Appreciate the time. Good catching up with you at the seminar this week, and I appreciate you hopping on today. Absolutely, man. Good to see you guys, man. Y'all enjoy it. We're only a couple weeks away now. Let's go. Showtime. A little more downtime, and then it's here. We'll catch up with you soon, man. Thanks a lot.
Yes, sir. Fozzie Whitaker joining us on the Buyer's Right Hotline. For all your insurance needs, financial and HR needs, it's Buyer's Right Insurance, a Higginbotham partner. Okay, so Texas, we discussed them. A couple other injuries that I want to get to on the other side and then maybe get into Oklahoma State this hour as well. Will they be in this year's college football playoff?
First, I want to tell you about our friends at Trane. You guys heard me talk about them almost every day right here on the show, what they can do for you. Your HVAC system, one of your largest investments this time of year, constantly being pushed to the extreme. You can trust a Trane home comfort system to give you reliability and peace of mind day in, day out for years to come. Visit Trane.com to find a comfort specialist near you. And always remember, it's hard.
to stop a train. All right, a couple other injuries, one specifically in the SEC. What does it do for that team? We'll discuss it next on Mac and Cube in the morning. Good morning. Interesting you would come back to this track, Damian, because that was kind of part of some of the feedback that we had a little bit earlier. Fozzie Whitaker saying he likes Pitbull, and he's good with it. Our Twitter poll currently has 60% of people saying no, that they do not like Pitbull.
I need to know the demographic profile. Well, a couple people coming in on Twitter. The Unhipster tweets in, Pitbull is rich in the same way Nickelback is. You may not like him, but somebody's buying all those damn records. It's fair. It's fair. Somebody's going to the shows. Let me tell you how much Chad Kroger cares about whether or not you like his music. Zero. It'd be zero. Okay. Bueller tweets in, Fireball is just kerosene on a bottle. Terrible. Whoa. Don't know why my golfing buddies make a birdie.
That's what they said. I'm taking a lot of fireballs in our golf group. It'd be bad ball. Fireball is what you take when you make a bogey. It's like, here, take this, buddy. This will help. Never, uh...
Never heard of the birdie fireball. That's a dicey one. Yeah. It gives me the shakes. It'll just be a full bottle of fireball. I get done. Coach WN tweets in, how can you tell when one of the people on your show needs to grow up with their drinking habits when they mention fireball and sweet tea as a good drink? Whoa. He is young. He's still a kid. He'll grow up. It's a country concoction. Give him time. He'll grow up. I ain't saying I got to drink it all the time, but it came in clutch.
I don't know this one. Don't speak as if it's in past tense either. Came in clutch. No. Lex Mayo tweets in, back in time, underrated banger. I don't know. I mean, I don't know the name of it. I probably would know it if I heard it, but I don't know right off hand. Hey, is that good? Is that bad? I'm not 100% certain. You surprised at the Twitter poll coming in with a strong no so far, GMAC, on liking Pitbull?
I am not because I know the demographics of our show and sports radio listeners tend to be the tiniest bit older. But also, isn't this in a similar fashion to Nickelback? He's one of those guys that people don't like to say that they like. Put it on TikTok.
Tell me what the response is. I don't know how to do a poll there, but maybe Damien can figure that out at some point. Damien should be our resident sweet tea and fireball slash TikTok expert. I don't know why Pitbull would have people that wouldn't like him because I think every big time function or even if you're at games, you'll hear a Pitbull song. If you're not fun, you probably don't like Pitbull.
Right. That's kind of how I look at it. It's fun music. It's not music that I'm going to sit down and listen to. You tell me what I prefer, Chris Stapleton or Pitbull. Yeah, I'm taking Stapleton. Right. But you can still like Pitbull. Time and place, though. It's time and place. Exactly. DMX or Pitbull? Pitbull by a mile. Depends on what I'm getting ready to do. Right.
We're walking into a fight. DMX is hardcore. If we're trying to throw hands, like, yeah. Right. If we're jumping on the Peloton, I'm probably going to need DMX. Yeah. Okay. Nelly or Pitbull? Nelly. It's close. It's close? That's a coin flip. Nah, Nelly by a mile. Outside of Air Force Ones, I don't know. Grills. Really? Hot in her.
No. Country grammar. E-I-E-I-O. Come on. Grill's okay. Shake your tail feather. Stop it. Yeah, that's...
I can listen to that. That's some sneaky ghost. The other one that's good is the one that was on his heart album or whatever. Excuse me? Didn't he do the Black and Blue album or whatever? Sweat and Suit. Sweat and Suit. That's what it was. So Sweat, the one that's to the NBC NBA's... Part of a champion. Ain't no way they can stop me. I'm on my way. I can feel the rain coming. It's a part of a champion. Hell yeah. Yeah, that song. That's a banger. That's literally just trying to take...
a theme of something and put words to it. No, it's elevated. It did not need to be done. He elevated. It did not need to be done. I will say the I Am Number One. Oh, yeah. It went for a minute, but when you played as much of that version of college as I did and that song came on every time you turned the game on or started a new game, you don't ever need that song in your life again. Honestly, because we logged hours. Depending on what age you were, I Am Number One was to your generation...
Like Game Over, Little Flip was to my generation. You want to talk about overplayed. That was kind of a good track, though. Kind of a good track. Yeah, it was a good track. I hate it. I don't hate it. It was just bad. It's a good track, but it's terrible. Songs can be played out. It can be overplayed. That's how I felt about American Idiot. Songs can be ruined for you. American Idiot? Green Day? Green Day?
That song got some run. Man, did it. I want to be an American. That song got. What was their other one that got a ton? Wake me up, when September ends. That's actually a pretty good one. That song? All right, speaking of songs. They had a bunch of them. They agreed to add some hits now.
Yeah, but they had some. Basket case. They had some. We're going to play this all the time. That's the one I was thinking of. I don't need that again. Oh, yeah. No, that song sucks. Like I just said, don't need that song in my life again. That song rips. No, it doesn't. It doesn't. I am one of those. It's not good. It's just not good. You're a hater. It isn't good. Well, it rips, so sorry. That's not a good song. It isn't. Speaking of songs. Your shoe game's not good.
Don't really care anymore. When you take unnecessary shots. Partly because I know it is to get them. Yes, you can. They also have all the Alabama and Auburn polos, half-dips, hats that you could possibly ask for for game day. Back to school is coming. So it's nice to go in and get some great brands like Horn Legend, Cutter and Buck, Antigua, Gentile. Nobody does game day apparel and school day apparel like the Panthers. Ladies,
If you want to get game day ready, they got you covered. And if you're looking for some wheels, Cole, I know you're always looking for some hokas, some new balances, and some Western booths. Maybe you need a romper. I do go hokas during games. Now, I'm not afraid to admit it. I don't care what you people say about it. Listen, I gave up on the coolness a couple years ago. Okay, first of all, they are cool. I go comfort. Hokas are so cool, and you can get them at a pet store. They're cool for a certain section of the population that I feel like I fit into. Unbelievable. I mean, what did you wear when you pledged?
What? The allegiance? I think I was probably wearing... I was wearing ruse. When you were going through Pledge, when you were going through Pledge Ship, you had to wear your new balances every day. You can go get them at the Pan Store. Pan Store has you covered. They also have tons of clear purses for you so you can just go right through security without any issue whatsoever.
Free alterations, free gift wrap as well. Zip on down to the pants store for all your game day needs. The last time I pledged was Allegiance daily in elementary school, and I believe we had the ruse on them. We had those zipper pockets on the side. You have to do bows and toes. I've had a quarter in there. Bows and toes. We were big time back then. We're going to the basement. You're doing bows and toes. You had ruse. You were rolling back in the day. Gary is on the Buyer's Right Hotline and wants to talk Pitbull. Welcome in, Gary.
Hey guys, how are you doing? Great.
Hey, awesome. I just want to let you know I saw Pitbull a couple years ago at Oak Mountain Epitheater. Fantastic, full of energy. The place was, I don't know if it was sold out, but it was pretty packed out. And it's literally a party start to finish. But then this past, I think a couple months ago, I was actually up in Canada working for a company based out of Miami at their convention, and they had Pitbull as a special guest on the last night. And I don't know how old he is. He's got to be probably
probably closer to 60, but man, he jumped around. It was a ton of fun and you can't listen to his music and not get in a good mood or want to dance or something. The other thing I found out about him is that he did not graduate high school, but he opened up a tuition free public charter middle school and high school in his town. He grew up in, in Miami. It's called little Havana. And the school name is a slam S
S-L-A-M. It's Sports Leadership and Management. So he gives back to the community, and I think it's pretty awesome what he's doing with the stadium, too. So anyway, give Pitbull my shout-out. There you go. That's awesome. Love it, Gary. Man, thanks for the call. Appreciate that. Gary said closing in on 60. As you heard Damien say, 43. So a little bit of a gap there. All right.
I realize he's been around for a while, though. Yeah. I actually do have a buddy that's done some work with him and says that he's an awesome guy. Like, just really cool to be around. Super nice guy. And as Greg brought up earlier, into a lot of things. Like, investment-wise and financially, like, into a lot. Not in a bad way. Just, like, he does a lot of things. I've heard he's the man. Like, I've heard...
amazing things about what kind of guy he is, how he gives back to the community, how he's very, very vocal and supporting. I heard he's just a really cool guy. Yep. So if you dislike him, it's on you. Well, not a lot of people know him. So I think I'm just basing it on the music. And so that's fine. But that's why I put the question out there. Separate the man from the music. Well, I tried that with R. Kelly. Spikes tweets in, just took me back to a good place in my life with the Tiger Woods Nelly number one reference. I'm going to tell you, you could log...
A lot of hours. It's a banger. A lot of hours on that game because that was the first one that you could really start to put some spin on the ball and had Pebble Beach. I might have gone super low on Pebble Beach a couple times. I thought it wasn't Augusta. Super low. No, Augusta was 10 years later. That came a little bit later. That came later, much later, after my PlayStation life, which will be back soon, but we're going to try to put it off. I think if I played that game again now, I'd have a better appreciation for it. All I ever did was play Pebble Beach and Augusta.
I never played the one with Augusta on it. Yeah, well, you were probably 37. Torrey Pines on there, I think. You could play that one. You can have it. North course or south course? I don't know. These are things you need to know. I have no idea. Why don't you know anything? I didn't take my compass on the video game. Why don't you know anything? I just don't. All right, speaking of songs, another one released yesterday. I want to ask what you think about it when we come back, and I want to ask you this.
What song or songs do you listen to on game day? Now, this has a little different interpretation for us. I'm not talking about the Discman sport that I used to carry down Tiger Walk. That's not where I'm going. I'm talking right now. Right now, this second.
Not the big, thick iPod that Greg had. Like the brick, cigarette-packed iPod that Greg had when he was playing. I'd roll it in my white tea underneath it like a 1950s greaser. Not those, but game day now. What are you listening to? Next on Mac and Cube in the morning. It's time for Bob's Dare to compare. You get style. You get features.
You get quality in thousands of dollars in savings. Everyone's winner when you dare to compare. In store at MyBobs.com. Named one of the best personal finance podcasts, The Stacking Benjamin Show with Joe and his friends makes financial literacy fun. We see money inefficiency OG around us all the time. We've got a few skeletons sitting out in the open and maybe we need to broom them into the closet, if you know what I mean. Nope, take that out. What is...
Whatever you were going for didn't land right. Who's got a shovel and some lime? Maybe you need to do that with your financial picture. I don't know. Find out more by searching the Stacking Benjamins podcast wherever you listen. All right, so that will be ESPN's college football theme this season. Where are we on it? What do we think? Like it. I love it. I'm with you, L.A. I think it hits. Yeah. I mean, it gets me going. Which also brings me to the question of what do you listen to on game day now?
I think we've all had the segments and talked about what we listened to before. When we were playing, we've gone through some of that playlist. I think GMAC has shared his. I've shared mine. Some Wu-Tang Clan in there. Maybe some Limp Bizkit in there. Probably some corn in there. Some ice cube in there for sure. There was a wrong person to expletive with that was played before every game.
Had to have that one in the rotation. But what do you listen to now? I'm interested. A couple other folks chiming in quickly on Pitbull that I wanted to share. Because most of you are voting that you don't like him. Thomas Johnson tweets in at Mac and Q, Pitbull did a show at Oak Mountain a few years ago. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Also, every time I'm at the gym, I hear at least two Pitbull songs. It's the energy goal. It's true. Jamie Bailey. I feel like this sums it up almost perfectly.
I don't choose a Pitbull song to listen to, but won't turn it off if it's on. It's well said. That's it. That's exactly what it is. Joey G. I was not a fan of Pitbull until my wife dragged me to a concert at Oak Mountain. I'd put it in my top five all-time concerts. Very entertaining. Like, Greg, you said it earlier. You bet the guy puts on a show. Performer, not something that I think people are going to look at him and say, yeah, he can't do that. Right. So...
Uh, Steven Williams tweets in, uh, still listening to Metallica black album one still, still game days. He's saying like, has your game day rotation really changed? 800-239-9569. You want to get in 800-239-WJOX-205-834-9450 tweet in at Mac and cube. Do you, do you need music on game day right now, Greg? Like before you're going to go call a game. No, don't like it. Don't want it. No, don't want it. You need a very clear headspace. I'm watching games.
Walking into the stadium? Oh, yeah. My screen time on Saturdays is... You're watching live games, you're saying? Yeah. Games that are happening now. Look, if I have a noon game... Watching the Elf League? I'm a little lost, full disclosure. If I have a noon game, I just go down to the field and mess around. I don't need...
Do some last-minute prep and stuff. But, yeah, dude, I'm watching games. See, I can't do it. My best information comes on the field about 45 minutes before a game, 50 minutes before a game. I get all my good stuff there. You got to see where the offensive line is sliding. No, that's when coaches – that's when the guard goes down. That's when the barriers come down. And they're like, all right, listen, here's what we're going to do. Exactly. All right, here's what you need to watch. And so –
That's when the best information is. And so I'm going and talking to position coaches, coordinators, trying to get a little extra time with the head coach over to the side, watching certain guys. They look like they're going to be healthy. They look like they're going to be good. Maybe even they'll kind of – they'll wander by, get a little good. Yeah, okay, all right. Just kind of get a little feel for it. So I – now all day, yes, but then when I get to the stadium, I don't –
I'm not really watching games. Yeah, I usually, so if I'm doing the night game, games, what, 6, 630? 630 usually. I usually can go down at halftime. As soon as the 230 or 330 game, 330 game goes to halftime, I'm going out of the field. I know I have about a half hour where I won't miss much, and then I go back up, and then I'm watching games. The thing is, you're on at night. I'm on at night. I can't miss that 230 game.
No, that's it. It's tough to me. I think in my whole life, I've never missed it unless I'm on alongside it. I still have it on a monitor. The very frustrating part is walking into stadiums. So six 45, we usually arrive a little before two hours for kick going into the stadium and they, uh,
In the stadium, they show bits and pieces of that game. So if it's Alabama-LSU, if it's Auburn-Alabama, whatever it is, Alabama-Tennessee, Georgia-Florida, they'll have it on the big screen for a minute, and then it goes away. And you're like, hold on a second. They're inside the 20. Right. It's a one-score game. And then they start putting their stuff on there. And then they'll come back to it, and it's four drives later. Right. They score twice? Twice. Twice.
Two times. It's frustrating to try to keep up with it. And you don't get service in there, so you can't really watch it on your phone down on the field. That doesn't happen. Get your service game up. I do need to get my service game up. I don't know exactly how that's going to take place. I go over on data by the 12th day of the month, every month during the football season. I'll get the text, you are dangerously close to using all your data. Speeds will slow down on September 13th. All right, hold on.
We've got to stop the show here for a second. Yeah. You just said you go over on data? Yeah, I have unlimited. But it slows down. How do you go over? It slows down once you get past a certain number. Do you not get that text? You've used 16.5 minutes. It's been a couple years since I got it. Like I said, get your service game up. What are you on, cricket? Nope. They put a limit on the unlimited part. I'm an AT&T guy. I don't know.
How? It's unlimited. It's been a long time. I used to get that. There's no unlimited. It slows down once you go beyond a certain number. So they're basically punishing you? I don't know. Let me look. Is there a reason for this? Are they saying you're the reason that other people are getting poor service because you're sucking it all in? What's happening? I don't understand this. I don't know for sure. Why? This is a real thing. That is a thing. 100%. That is a thing. Have you heard of this, Damien? Not in a while.
Not a long time. I feel like this is like one of those Elon Musk cheat codes or something. Stay below two gigahertz and you'll get faster service. Are you telling me this is why my cell phone doesn't work in stadiums? Like when I'm at Talladega or something because I'm over my data? Too many gigs? Too many RAMs?
That I've used up? I don't know about RAM. Is that what you're telling me? I don't know about RAM. Megahertz? Is that like floppy disk stuff? Is that RAM?
Don, Don, what do you listen to on game day? This will be good. Actually, that's what I wanted to call about. When I go down to Auburn, and I'm not sure if you know about this place by Timber's Corner, but I go to 1716 and watch all the ballgames. But mainly Auburn fight songs and stuff like that when you're tailgating and then watching the ballgames on the TV in your tailgate tent.
You just crank, like basically you have that Auburn marching band soundtrack and you just let it rip, go all the way through? Absolutely, buddy. But hey, I tell you what you hear a lot down there, and I'm sure you've heard this before, is the Gary Sanders call on that famous 1972 game before all you guys were born, you know, the Bama Plank game. And actually, the bar 1716, that's what that was named for. I don't know. Cole, have you ever been there? I have never walked in that establishment.
Well, I tell you what, you would love it because on the wall, that game's called the punt-bam-a-punt game. And on a 100-foot wall, it's got orange and blue. And, Greg, you're not going to like this, but it says punt-bam-a-punt on it. Sounds like my kind of play, Stondon. Absolutely. As a matter of fact, you know I'm taking Damian to that opening game, right?
I knew you were taking them to a game. I didn't know it was the opening game. Yeah, I'm taking them to the opening game. And hopefully, Cole, you'll be able to cover an Auburn game down there with your SEC network crew, I hope. There are two that are on the docket. If you look at the flex schedule, you'll see which those are. Dondon, more importantly, do you like pit bull? Yes, actually, I do. You started to say no, and then you called a very late audible there.
What did you see? The coverage changed late or something? You got to a different route? Well, no. No. Me and Damien had a conversation about this the other day up at Soho Taco for the Pat Landrum show. I'm an old school guy, man. I'm Bert Wendland. Calm down. I just had nothing to do with that. Molly's right out of there. But no, Cole. I'm old school music. Okay. Hey, thank you, guys. See y'all Wednesday night. Thank you, Don Don. Okay. There you go.
Jamie Bailey says, maybe Greg needs to up his cell phone game. Maybe, is it your phone? You have an old phone? Yeah, my phone's not new. If you want to know if Greg's phone is old, I had to buy an adapter for my phone at the airport on the way home because I forgot my AirPods. Yes. And I wanted to listen to some things on my phone, so I had to get the USB-C to headphones. And he's like, that's a USB-C, bro. It's not going to work on your phone. I was like, yeah, no. He goes, where do you think you're plugging that into, bro?
I was like, right there on my cell phone. He's like, cell phones have USB-C. You laugh. Do you have an iPhone 4? I have an iPhone 13, I think. I think it's 13. I don't even know which one we're on right now. I don't either. So I really don't know. I'm not one that's like, oh, I got to get the new phone. I hate installing all my apps and doing all my passwords and going and getting my Okta Verifies. It just drives me crazy. It doesn't take that long. It doesn't.
They make it pretty easy now. It all just rolls over. That's great. I try to spend less than three hours a day on my phone, and it's actually...
Now, it's really more since social media stuff, like 215. So I don't really need the most updated malware. I don't care. I'm thinking about just going straight flip phone. I don't care anymore. You should. I do not care. Get that Norton antivirus on there. Predictive text. I want to go back to the predictive text from back in the day. Those were the days.
When you see Greg with a sidekick, just know he's making a business decision. What was your favorite cell phone you ever had? Non-iPhone. Razer. Razer was legit. It was good because it was so thin. Camera was trash, but it was a legit phone. I never took pictures. I still don't. I'm going to go back to the first BlackBerry I ever had. That QWERTY keyboard, you could fire off some emails and texts like nobody's business. Just get that email out. That thing was so easy to use.
So easy to get the text out. Now, you didn't have any like the internet and stuff was trash, but no camera, nothing like that. Yeah, that's probably where I would go. Razor is definitely. Razor is up there. I'll go back to the Nokia brick phone playing Snake. Tough to beat. If you want to go old school, you should do that again. Aren't they bringing some of these back? Some people have said that they want the phones where you can't get internet anymore.
You can go get one of those, Greg. I don't need one of those. I do need the internet to an extent. I do watch games on there. And most of the time, my biggest thing that I use on my phone... Call 4 Union. They'll know. I'll tell you the thing that is most valuable on my phone is the Wi-Fi hotspot.
I use that more than pretty much anything else. And I think that's why my data gets eaten up so much because I'm using my laptop and iPad on game day watching games. So I have two games going on my data plan on my cell phone all at once. So I think that's probably where most of it goes. I don't know. So if there's like a really entry elementary level cell phone that would allow me to use a Wi-Fi hotspot, I'm in.
You're using your cell phone to do the show on the road, aren't you? No. It's a hotspot. No, I do it from a hotel room usually. I have used my phone before. That time you were on the loading dock? I've been on the loading dock. I've been at Dilfer's Golf Tournament. I've done it. There's some place that you had your shopping carts banging and clanging out in the background. I don't even remember where that was.
You got to do what you got to do. What was the place in the Greenville airport or whatever? You were in like the welcome. Oh yeah. That was dicey. Yeah. That was dicey. Rocking chair at the Charlotte airport. Yeah. We were doing a class in a picture. I've done it in rocket chair at Charlotte airport. Yeah. That was a dance in national championship. I've done this show in a lot of weird places. Minute suite.

All right, welcome back in. McElroy, Kubrick in the morning, Friday, August 9th, right here on JOX 94.5. Bill said Buick GMC is the GMC dealer of the year. The very best. Nobody can touch them when it comes to prices. Nobody can touch them when it comes to deals. Nobody can touch them when it comes to inventory. That's why they are the GMC dealer of the year. Again, the four time in a row dealer of the year. The seven time dealer of the year overall. Seven time national champ is pretty dang good.
And the GM numbers came back, and they've already well on their way to selling more GMCs than anyone in the Southeast again here in 2024. Go get yourself a GMC Sierra 2024 1500 SLT. We talked a little bit about uniforms yesterday. You guys see Oklahoma throwbacks? They look like Nebraska. A smidge, yes. But this is how you do it, folks. This is how you do a throwback uniform. You don't paint a leather helmet on your helmet. These are sweet. Oklahoma got this right. These are strong.
It's a good look. But I see what you're saying a little bit. They look like their rival. That they don't play? Yeah, but it's their rival. Imagine, I don't know, Georgia Tech. All of a sudden adopting numbers on the side of their helmet with red helmets and white pants. I know they're not Bama's rival, but why would you want to at all resemble a team that you used to loathe? No, they're sweet. They look good. You got it right, Oklahoma. Keep up the good work.
