yeah when i go back to new york i won't have my headphones in i won't be on my phone if eight girls came forward and made a tiktok about it imagine how many girls it happened to that haven't come forward welcome back to another episode of mean girl pod how's home this is so fun because we're both literally in our parents homes right now recording i'm in florida
I'm in Oklahoma. I feel like the Kelsey brothers right now. Oh my gosh. Have you seen the vacation photos? Oh, of Travis and Taylor? Of course I have. I'm obsessed. You are. Well, I like them together. I mean, I think that he's different for her and it's fun seeing her with someone other than...
like a singer-songwriter or an actor, I think that they work well together. I love them together. I think the vacation photos are hilarious because they were like on the beach, like laying on the actual beach. And I kind of wanted them to be on a yacht or something. And so I thought it was funny because, you know, he's like real country. And I don't think she ever wanted the bougie lifestyle. So I love that.
She's just like hanging out with him and they're not doing any of the lavish things. Yeah, I don't know Taylor personally, but I visualize her. We know you don't. I visualize her as just being like a very relaxed, chill person. And since she's so go, go, go, her vacation to me is like lay on a beach, all inclusive, all you can drink, all you can eat, not like a yacht style. I see her as just like a chill, cool girl. You see T-Swift that all inclusive. Yeah. Yeah.
I see her with the least amount of people possible, which that's what always. No. No? No, I was going to say she's at a private all-inclusive resort. Oh, she's the only one at the all-inclusive resort. I love it. I was like, I don't see her. Like, I was thinking Bahamas. Sandals. Yeah, I was like, I don't see her there, but I do see her at a solo spa. I see her at like a just I don't think she likes to be around a lot of people. I think less is more to her.
Yeah, I mean, I don't blame her. I feel like she would be swarmed anywhere she goes. So I see like a private cabana, but like all inclusive drinks and food because you can't go better than all inclusive. Really? You think you ever have you ever been? Yes. I love it. Many of times I like. OK, so I I this is why I don't like all inclusives. I think they put the food out, but I'm a I'm a germaphobe on mass. Like I don't go to the Whole Foods hot bar anymore after covid.
because I would read all these stories about how people would put their hands like in the hot bar and they don't mean to, but they, and I find myself at times, I almost can't refrain. Like I almost want to grab a chip out of there. And if I'm thinking it, I know other people are actually doing it. And so I got real grossed out by the hot bar. And then I was thinking about all inclusives. And the thing is a lot of times they put it all out there for everybody. And I, and I can't go to those places anymore. Yeah. And I think they skimp on service.
I agree with that. I haven't been doing all inclusive since high school. So I don't know what a 28 year old Jordan would think, but I just love the idea of being able to go up to the bar and get as many pina coladas as I want. Go to the buffet whenever I feel like eating and I don't have to be on anyone else's time, time schedule. I can be like, I'm just going to go get, grab a snack. You guys stay here.
I just love that. But then I think those drinks are watery because they're not getting, they're not getting, that's the problem. They're not getting tipped on it. All right. They don't have the $14 and get the, so like, I don't really care. And I just remember being in, I was on my senior trip and I remember thinking, these are water, right?
And they were like, yeah. I was like, I thought. I can totally see them taking like the full tequila bottle and like removing half of it and just pouring water in. Yeah. They're like, who cares? Like whatever. Vodka is tequila and it's not. And you're like, what? Throwing up. I would love to go on an all-inclusive vacation. I have not been on like a tropical vacation in years.
So you want it. You do want to try the all inclusive. You should go try it. Test it. To me, vacation like my vacation is a beach tropical. Like if if we were like, let's go to even like Napa Sonoma or something, I wouldn't consider that a vacation.
That's a trip. Ah, that's fair. I can get behind that. Yeah, no, I consider that a trip. And then a vacation to me is sit on the beach, drinking some pina coladas, a savvy bee with the sun, but not necessarily an all inclusive or you want to do the all inclusive. Oh, it doesn't have to be I just need a beach and like ocean somewhere in the like, that's tropical. Yeah, I agree. I think like even going to Europe is a trip because you it requires so much planning. Like you're
Like you're not relaxed. You come back and you're like, that was great, but I'm not rested. And I don't want an agenda on my vacation on a trip. I will. Like when I went to Europe with Madeline, we had a very set out like time by time agenda. And that was perfect. That was a great trip. But if I'm going to Mexico and sitting on the beach, you do not give me a schedule or an agenda. I'm going to do me. I completely, I completely agree with that. So do you feel like when you're home, you're on a vacation or a trip or neither? Neither. Yeah.
None of the above. No, I, uh, well,
So my parents moved to Florida, so that helps make it a little bit more like a vacation because it's warm, beautiful, and sunny. Like I think it's 80 degrees today. Oh, so nice. But you know when you go home, it's just like very routine. Everyone's doing their own thing. Like my mom's working, my brother's working, I'm working. Like the whole fam's here right now, but we're all just like from eight to five, we're all doing our own thing. What about you? Yeah, no one's like talking. I view home always as it feels like a vacation. Like-
If I do it right, if I come here and if I come for long enough that like I'll see, you know, because I need to see my friends because I grew up here. And so all my friends are still here. Like your parents have moved to where home for you isn't like your high school friends, but mine is. And so.
If I come for a long enough time that I can be social, but I can have my days where like I won't leave the house at all. I'll leave to go walk, but I won't get in cars and go places. Then it's really relaxing and recharging. And I like love it. It's so nice being able to go home and use the car. Oh my gosh.
it's so nice except I get home and my dad's like see ya and I'm like where you going he's like Midland Texas so he's gone for two days like he took a car you know and then my mom's got pickleball and all these things so I feel quite stranded like I don't have the I have to like book the car wait have you played pickleball yet oh yeah oh I love pickleball I played it this morning with my mom brother and pete and it was so much fun oh yeah I used to be in a pickleball league I love pickleball
I didn't know that. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I love, well, it's very similar to, I played volleyball and tennis. And so it's the same exact muscles like, or movement. So yeah, I love it. Oh, it's all the rage right now. You liked it. It was so fun. Wait. So did you play pre New York then? Yeah. Oh my God. Cause in Minnesota it got a little, it kind of got big over COVID. That's when I first played in 2020. And then I didn't play until today for the first time again, because it's
I mean, it's massive where my parents live. It's massive everywhere. And it was so fun. It's so cool. And they have, do you guys have like the chicken pickle things now where it's like a Topgolf, but for pickleball. So there's like bars and food and there's all the pickleball courts. We've got one here. They're so fun.
Cool. No, we just have the courts in like my parents' amenity area that we can use. They're public. Oh, yeah. Okay. See, that's great, too. But they're setting up these Topgolf. It got so popular. They're setting up these Topgolf things. You go for like parties and it's I think it's really fun. I love that. How is being home? Because Harrison's with you right now, right? This is his first time in Oklahoma. Yes, ever. And and so he landed last night and I like went to get him.
And he was like, there's so much space. And I was like, I know it's a lot of space. And then he hasn't been here long enough. Like I'm going to take them to all the notable spots. But the one thing that happened last night that was really funny was we were making eggs like really late. And it was me, my mom and him in the kitchen. And I'm like weird when I go to houses for the first time.
But I was like, I want eggs. And my mom was like, you probably make better eggs than me, Alex. You make them. He's like, I'll make them. And I was like, oh, like he hasn't been here that long. And me and my mom were both like, thank you. Like we, you know, you want people to feel comfortable. Yes. But when you go places, you don't feel comfortable yet. He just like was like, yeah, I feel fine. And like is holding the like, so he was like, it's such a seamless relationship.
But he had the pan really hot and they took it over to the sink and he like turned on the water and it was like steaming. And I looked at him and I was like, you know, that's bad for the pan, right? And he turned around and he's like, it's not bad for the pan. Like who told you that? So I looked over my mom and I was like, well, you told me that. And he's like, did you ever Google it? And I'm like, no. And he's like, cause that rule never made it to our house. And I'm like, that's so funny. Like,
The things, you know, does the dish go in the dishwasher at your house or are you guys piling them up? And it's going to be really funny to see like the differences of ways of growing up at like home. Not when we're living together in New York, but like your parents' houses. So I don't know if you guys have had that over there. Wait, that's so funny because...
When I was a sophomore in college, my roommates used to get so mad at me for doing that with the pan. But I was like, I'm like, Harrison, I'm like, it's not bad for the pan. They're like, you're going to melt it. You're going to bend it. I'm like, shut up. So I would always do it. And then now I always do my mom's. I was like, can you just wait for it to cool down? Quick pause to talk about the coziest thing on the planet, the one and only Skims.

So the pans my mom, we grew up with, she was like, no, I read the back. And it did say like, if you get really hot like that, it does hurt the stick. But like, if your mom didn't have those pans, it wasn't a thing. Yeah, that's a bad, or that's a rule in our home too, to let it cool down first. Yeah. But I don't listen to it. It was so funny. I was like, I don't know where I got, like, I just took it as Bible because my mom told me that every pan was that way. And he's like, we didn't have that. And I was like, oh, that's so funny. I appreciate Harrison just feeling at home though, because-
I cannot stand when people are like overly polite. I'm like, just, just act like you're at home. Like I'm that person where I'm like, I'm just going to be at home because I know it's almost more annoying to be too polite. No, it is. But see, I respect you for that because I can't do it. Like I am, I'm like, Ooh, you know? And it's like, so I don't know how, how's it going with you guys? Like is Pete, what, which one is he? Is he kind of polite or is he like,
letting us letting to do him let us do a thing I think he's pretty normal because this is the second time here he's met my parents before um so I feel like I mean he just got in late last night as well so I can't like this morning he was very like doing his own thing but he met my brother for the first time last night how was it what time did he get in like how long did they have
He got around like five-ish, I think. So we went to dinner and then we played pickleball this morning too. Oh, fun. So he's got, okay, so how did it go? Did they hug or did they like dab up? Oh, I think.
I think they did like the shake, like the strong shake. Yeah, the handshake. I like that. Okay. But not the proper ones, kind of like, yo, bro, what's up? Like a bit of like a dad, like a yo, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like that. Okay. And then did they play pickleball against each other? First, Pete was on my team. And then my mom decided to part with me because I was the worst. And then after that, my brother was like, I'll take her. So we transitioned. Yeah.
Oh, so then it was Tracy and Pete versus you and Colton. Yeah. And then it was me and Colton verse my mom and Pete pickleball is a really funny dynamic because I've played with Harrison a couple of times and it's
he'll be the best. And, but he'll be like, I got to go easy on this person. And it's like, you kind of, you kind of do if you know each other, but if you're really competitive. So I would think your brother versus Pete would be funny. Cause like if Pete was better, he wouldn't want to like, cause the whole thing is if you're a real dick and pickleball, you hit the person with the ball. And so it's like, do you do that? Or do you not absolutely not do that? Do you like purposely lose? So I would say they both were like competitive, but,
they did it in a respectful way. So they both wanted to win, but they weren't hitting the ball at each other. Um, but it, it was a, it's a good way to like test how people like each other. Cause you're right. It is a respect thing, but, um, I was definitely the worst, but they were all nice to me, which was great. That's good. Yeah. No, you want them that you can tell a lot about playing a sport with a guy is if he's nice to you or not. Yes. But we, uh,
- Yeah, we're gonna golf and it's not competitive versus each other, but it is competitive. - Wait, is Michael home as well and Kristen? - They're coming home like tonight or tomorrow, I think. Or definitely one of the two, I just don't know when. - So when they golf, will it be the whole family or will it just be the boys? - It'll be the whole family. - Oh, that's gonna be fun. - I know, I'm excited. I love to golf and my mom takes lessons, but I can't play like 18 holes, but I can do like four. - Does Harrison's family celebrate Easter?
Okay. No, they're Jewish. Oh, right. So they have Passover. And I asked his mother, I was like, what's the main difference in the religion? She was like, the part where he is risen. And I was like, that's the one I bring in Harrison home for, right? And she's like, that's the one. And I was like, oh, she's like so sweet. But I said, I love that because religion to me isn't so important.
it's not one way or the other, right? I'm kind of like, I don't know if he rose or not. I'm like great either way. And so we're making challah, it's spelled challah bread, challah bread. Yeah, my mom's making, she's testing her Easter recipes. And so she's making French toast and,
And a lot of people DM'd me and they were like, try it with challah. And Harrison's mom texted me and she was like, try it with challah. And I was like, mom, have you ever made the French toast with challah? And she's like, yes. And it's so good. So a fun little way that we're like blending the two is our French toast will have the challah bread in it. Yum. That's going to be so good. I know. And I think it's sweet too. She was like trying to find him like a Jewish Easter basket because everyone just like loves the two. Like I'm like, we're so happy to do both.
That's Pete's Easter basket right there, if you can see. It looks like a fish. Wait, I can't see. Oh, I see. It's beside the fish. It's blue. Yeah, my mom gave it to me, my brother, and Pete last night. Oh, what was in them? Do you Easter egg hunt? No, they just give us a basket filled with candy. Like, it's literally stocked filled with every type of candy you can think of. Oh, that's so cute, though. I love adults getting Easter baskets. Like, I saw Brittany Furlan's dad still sends her one.
And I'm like, good. Like we still, I mean, we have to hunt the eggs though, but I've never not done it. I love that. Wait, I have a question. So last night you, I saw in your story that you were asking people where to bring Harrison was one of the places where you brought Alana and I for the first time. Yes. The middle one is Ted's the Tex-Mex place. And it's remember when, remember you drove there, you drove my mom's car and I think I was in my dad's car.
Wait, no. Remember the place where we had you like played that prank on us about. Oh, that's cattlemen. So that's not on the list. And I thought after I posted it, I thought, oh, I should have put cattlemen on it. Yeah, I know. I think that'll be lunch tomorrow. You should play that trick on him. Oh, I 100 percent. Well, what was it again? Calf fries. Yes, yes, yes.
I know my DMs were like, how do you not have cattleman's on the list? And I'm like, how do I not? It used to be my favorite, but the food's not good. Like the other places, I took you to the Mexican restaurant, but the other places on there, cattleman's is an experience. The other three, like the food's good. Yeah. The, the Mexican restaurant, phenomenal queso. And then, um,
Brahms Brahms yeah that's where I went night one when I got here I know I saw your your story was like I think a takeout bag and I was like I would kill for a burger from there yes I know I gotta take them to all I know we're here till Wednesday after Easter so I can hit if I plan it out I can hit a lot of these places which I'm excited about what are you guys doing are you eating at home or do you eat out while you're there my mom can you hear that
- Hear what? - Oh, the dogs. Yeah. - Oh, I did, but I love dogs. My mom cooks like a nice meal. I think she's doing like a roast or something. But we're going to the beach because Pete needs to redeem himself from the stingray sting. - But is he scared?
I am. He's like, I'm going in that water. And I'm like, I'm not. Oh, I would take a year of absence. Like that look, I didn't even see it. It gives me the chills still. Oh, I mean, technically it's not stingray season anymore. So we should be fine. But I don't think I can go in the water. I literally don't think I can. And I think that's okay. This isn't one of those things where I would like conquer your fears. It's like, no, that looked painful. Let's pause to talk about, well, our hair.
Weigh products. You guys know we are obsessed with Weigh because hair can be time consuming, especially if you want to get rid of the frizz. If you want to have that shine that you really can get when you go to the, not the barber shop, to the salon. And so, you know, Jordan and I are absolutely obsessed. Jordan, tell us about your favorite product as always.
So I absolutely love the oil, but I have been going on to your favorite product, the detoxifying shampoo. I use it every day now. It is unbelievable because it cleans all the buildup in your hair and you guys, it's disgusting, but we have a lot of buildup in our hair. So take care of it and use the detox keyword detox shampoo.
Shampoo. Yeah, New York Water. I don't know. People are always like, it's so great, but it makes my hair scummy. And the Detox Shampoo is one of the only shampoos I can use that removes the scum. Yes. And so then your hair actually grows more. So you guys...
Frizz free up your schedule with way. That's O U a I. So go to the way.com T H E O U a I.com and enter promo code mean girl for 15% off any product. That's T H E O U a I.com promo code mean girl. Happy hair. My mom got him a stingray stuffed animal.
Good. That's actually really funny. That's cute. And my dad's like, you have to get a tattoo of a stingray. I'm like, no, we're not doing that. His parents would kill us. Yeah. And you're like, no. Does Pete have any tattoos? No. And he doesn't want any. Yeah. That's same. Does Harrison? No. But, but the like top, like when I first told my parents about Harrison, the first or second question my dad asked me was, does he have tattoos? Yeah.
I think that was the question my dad asked as well. I'm like, well, if his parents ask him that, he would have to say yes about us. I know. And you can see ours. They're abrupt. Yeah. I know. I got right ahead of that wedding ring with his mom. I saw her like looking at it and I was like, okay, let's address this. Very difficult to get it removed. Oh, and so painful too. Yeah. Yeah. I'm on like TikTok removal or TikTok.
tattoo removal TikTok and I'm like, I can't even watch the videos. No, no, don't want to. Okay, I have a story for you. So on the way to Florida, so I'm going to be in Florida for like
now like two weeks because I'm babysitting Elroy my parents dog when they're going they're going they're going to a tropical vacation and that's funny it doesn't seem like they would need one right you know even my mom said that she was like it's not as exciting I'm like I don't want to hear it okay it's really not as exciting I wouldn't think I mean like go but like it's not as like whoa so I I'm gonna be in Florida next week babysitting Elroy and but I don't know why I'm
getting into that but on my way to Florida guess who sat next to me who Matt James from The Bachelor I mean I texted you and Julie this oh yes and I didn't know I was like who was that
Yeah, but he's not the current one. No, no, no. He was a few seasons ago. He was the first black male bachelor and he's also Tyler Cameron's best friend. That's where I see him in Tyler Cameron's videos. Yeah. So he made like, I mean, it was history, which was so exciting. And he's, he, he picked Rachel. They're still together. They are. Yeah. I love those. I love the ones that are still together. I check on Jojo and Jordan Rogers every day.
Oh, I'm obsessed with them. So did he say hi? No, I didn't say anything to him. What was he a headphone guy or? So, well, first off, I wouldn't, it wouldn't matter if it was Mark Wahlberg. I wouldn't be able to say anything to anyone. I get so awkward with small talk. I just like freeze. I had my headphones on and I'm like, but no, when he got on the flight, he was on the phone. And then as soon as he got the phone, I mean, he was sleeping the whole flight.
Oh so he just passed out Yeah but I wouldn't talk to him anyways I just like I don't want to Like to me a flight is a very sacred time Where I just want to relax And I don't want him to think he has to make small talk with me Or like be nice Like I just wanted him to be able to do his thing Well and he every time he gets on a flight Probably A young person probably says something So I bet he sits down and like prays For like the old guy That has no idea but then he got you And like you didn't talk to him and he's just like yes
I know I should have been like, hey, like I know Jason because everyone was like, why didn't you say that? Like ask him to be on the pod or talk to him about Jason because I forgot. I was like, oh my God, Jason was on our podcast. They obviously know each other. But I'm like, I didn't want to do that. I also forgot. Yeah. And you know, I like like that you didn't.
I actually agree. I agree with you there. I was scared. Well, not scared. I just like, I don't want to interrupt his, his quiet time. Maybe for all I knew, he like, this was like his two hours of the day where he could just sit and nap and relax. Totally. And like flight nighttime flights, just like, I just, you just want to get home. Exactly. Yeah. Why was he going here? Do you know to Florida? Well,
I know he's from Jupiter, but I don't know why he was flying into Sarasota because Sarasota and Jupiter are like across the state from each other. Like Sarasota or Jupiter is near like on the Miami side. Sarasota is on the other side. So isn't Tyler Cameron from Jupiter? Yeah. Are they their best friends before The Bachelor or became? Before. Oh, that's cute.
Okay, I love that. That's actually really cool. So Matt got introduced to The Bachelor and became The Bachelor because Tyler, because he was in so many of Tyler's videos, he wasn't actually on a season of The Bachelorette.
It's not like, you know how they usually pick batches from previous season? Yes. They just picked him because he was good friends with Tyler. Oh, that worked out for him. Yeah. So he and him and Tyler do like the like funny videos together. And like Matt's massive on social media. He does a lot of food content and everything. So he's just so funny. That's cool that you sat by him and it's cool that you didn't say anything to him. Yeah. So Matt, Rachel, if you're watching this, I love you guys content.
And she sat by you and didn't say anything. So you're welcome. It's a really nice thing to do. Okay. I saw your Haley, the TikTok got hit girl. Oh my gosh. Yes. Okay. So you and I left New York literally the day before the craziest thing happened. So yesterday, which was March 27th or maybe it was March 26th. All of a sudden, so Hallie Kay, she's very big on TikTok. She made a video about getting hit.
by a random guy. She was walking, like she was just texting and a guy came up to her, hit her, and then just walked away. So she made a video about it being like, you guys, like this happened, be careful. After she made that video, like eight plus other videos or girls came forward in New York saying that they also were hit by men randomly. Like literally just...
hit and some some of them were because they're on their phone some girls say they weren't on their phone like there's there was there's not like a ton of consistency other than the fact that like guys just go up to these girls hit them and walk away i saw she said she was on her phone because i was watching this and he hit her and then was like yelling at her after she came to
Yeah. So hers, Julie sent me a bunch of articles earlier today. The man that hit her has been recognized. It's not the same guy hitting all the girls, which is very scary because now there's multiple men doing this. So we don't know if it's like random or if guys are seeing this and then mimicking it. But the guy that hit her.
has a following on TikTok and has made some other videos where he is like following girls or like talking to the police, harassing. So it's really scary. But the other situations, no other men have been caught to our knowledge. And we don't know if this guy is the same guy for the other girls on social media or like what the situation is. And was the Hallie Kate one the same as Bethany Frankel's?
uh, well, I didn't see Bethany Frankels. What happened with her? I just skimmed an article yesterday. Uh, I don't know. I know, but Bethany said she had also been hit by somebody thought Hallie's cause I saw it like right when it happened, I thought it was a filter and I was like, she's kidding. It was insane. And she held it together. It was just this like, like welted knot. I was like, that's one of those filters with the horns.
No, it's creepy. Not creepy. It was crazy because a few other girls who got hit had the same type of lump and I've never seen anything like that. I think she said she because she was on her phone and that's scary. And aren't we like you're allowed to walk and be on your phone, but you're not looking. But she was like, I think he shoulder checked me or something. I think he elbowed her like that's just like that was such a knot.
I felt terrible for her. Same. And it's frustrating because so many people are like, be aware of your surroundings, girls. Stop texting and walking. And it's like, how about men just stop hitting random women? Like, obviously, we all need to be aware of our surroundings 24-7 because that's just the world we live in. But, like, do not tell us that we need to stop being on our phones when it's 10 a.m. in the morning when we're walking or that we need to be vigilant constantly. It's like, how about you just tell men to stop...
assaulting women but I will not be on mine like no I'll be I it sucks when the world does this to us but it's like yeah like when that homeless person threw the rod at someone last year I this was me like walking around I was just like looking constantly because it's so scary to get hit
Or, yeah, like when the people were getting pushed in front of the subway or hitting the subway platform, I stopped wearing my headphones in the subway platforms. And I would lean against pillars and like try to have like something. It's so scary when that happens. Well, and it's crazy too because in New York, it's the most crowded city. And this is just happening in front of a bunch of people. So it's the amount of people around you isn't preventing it from not happening, which is crazy. I know. I used to always think that.
I think it's the bystander effect, right? Everyone thinks everyone else will help and they won't. And so it's, oh, it just gives me the chills. I'm glad they caught someone. But you know what got me about it when I saw they had caught him? I'm like, how out of all of these people did you find that guy? Because if I'm her, I'd be like, they're never going to find them. But I was so happy that they did.
So I think hers, since he has a following on TikTok and has made videos of harassing women, I think someone like has taken pictures of him before. And then Halle saw a set of pictures and confirmed with the police that it was him. But Alex, if you go to his TikTok, there's this one video of him literally following this girl online.
down the street of a bit like a busy New York street being like why are you in a hurry slow down like get off your phone and she's like please leave me alone and he's just like practically chasing her it's very terrifying and people are walking past her and no one's doing anything yeah they because here's the thing like I was in the park one day and it's me and my parents and we're on this guy's video who runs passing farts
And he like he like farts in his pants. I just somebody sent to me that day. I always get sent it. And it sounds like he's pooping in his pants while he's running through Central Park. And so you're all like, oh, my gosh. And then it's a bit right. And everyone in New York's always doing a bit.
And they're all pranking. And so you see that. I would be like, that's so absurd. And he's filming. They're obviously making a TikTok. Yeah. I know. Isn't that so sad that we like go to that thought? Yes. I would be like, oh, if I say something, he'll be like, dude, we're filming. And like, she's in on it. When like, she's not. No. I know. So now it's like, yeah, when I go back to New York, I won't have my headphones in. I won't be on my phone.
No. And it's just, it's so scary. I just like couldn't believe that like if eight girls came forward and made a TikTok about it, imagine how many girls it happened to that haven't come forward. Yeah. And don't have TikTok and think that's silly to make one. And it's like this dude is just checking people. That's, come on, that's awful. It's, yeah, it's terrifying. So that was...
Just some fun news to wake up to. Some happy Easter news to everyone. Other than that, what else is happening in your life? Nothing really. I'm weather dependent, so I'm really happy about the weather being good. Next week I'll be in Miami. I'm excited about that. Are you leaving from Oklahoma? Yeah, I'm coming from Oklahoma to Miami. I'll see Brittany Schmidt there, which I'm excited about. I love the Miami restaurants. I just love Miami in general, so...
Harrison's a big, like, booker. He likes to play in the dinners, so that's nice. Are you guys going for a special occasion or? It's a get out of New York moment. It's a wait for the weather to turn. You know something crazy? What? People are getting hit in Miami too? No. No.
And I'm not saying this due to people getting it. I know a lot of people are like, Jordan, you're just saying this because everything that's happening in New York. I never thought I would say this, but I'm kind of getting tired of New York. Really? Why? Why is that? I don't know. I just like...
I was so the other day I told my roommate that I won't be living with her next year because Pete and I are moving in together. So exciting. So excited. I mean, we've said a million times on the podcast, but like I had I my roommate knew, but like I had to like actually have a sit down conversation with her and be like, hey, I'm not going to be resigning with you. And we were talking and she's always kind of been like.
I don't think I belong in New York. I really love Chicago, this or that. Like, I don't want to speak for her too much. But she's from the Midwest. So like she loves the Midwest cities. And we were just talking and I was just like telling her, I'm like,
you know, you're allowed to move. Like you, you have the approval. And she's like, she's like, I know, but it's so hard because no one tells the story of leaving New York to live their dreams. Everyone is always like, I went to New York to live my dreams. And she's like so many people. And these are like all irrational fears, but she's like, people look down at me being like, you're leaving the city of your dreams and you're leaving New York. Like you, you're a failure because like everyone thinks of New York is like the final destination, like the city of dreams where you go to be successful. And I was like,
okay, then you tell those people to live in New York for three years and then get back to you. And also you have, you have the approval to live the life that you want to live. And she was just like, thank you for saying that because I'm just so stressed about this. And she's like, I don't know if I want to live in New York anymore. And it's just, I don't want people to look down on me. And I was like, you know, a lot of times in this life, we don't do a lot of things because we're afraid of the approval of other people.
That's so funny though, because I always thought, do you know how I view New York? It's so, it's actually different than what she's saying. Not that you would live there forever because it's so expensive and would be hard to raise a child.
I would think. Right. So everyone I've always known lived in New York for a little bit and then moves out. So I don't ever view it as like a final place. I view it as more of like, how long did you stay? Did you make it there type? So that's so funny how our own perspectives can like get in our head of like she would view it as I'm afraid to leave because people will look down on me. Whereas I'm like, you did it. And of course your time comes that you leave. It
And maybe it's because she's still pretty young. Like she's, she just turned 27. So maybe in her head, she's like, I've only been here since I was 27. But yeah, I've never, well, for a short time, I was like, I will never leave New York City. Right. But I think it's to me just like the expense of everything. Everything's so expensive. Moving in with Pete, I'm like, oh, great. Now we get to, we get to have a nicer place, but it's going to be tiny still. And then I come to my parents and I'm like,
this house is so pretty and spacious and lovely. And, and really like even us living in a small place, like I can't find a place to rent in the state of Oklahoma for what we pay. Like I couldn't find one cause they don't exist. And it's like, it's like we pay cause we have these same conversations. It's just like to wrap your head around the,
The price to even get into the city, it's insane. And then you're like, you ask yourself if it's worth it. It's like these places are so small and you're just dumping money down the drain. And you don't have to get into specifics, but for Harrison's house in LA, did he pay less a month to rent that than your current apartment to rent? So he paid more, but per square foot more.
So much less. Yeah. Like my dad was telling me, he was like, there's a house down the street, which I'm like, I'm never moving to where you guys live. No offense to them. Not down the street. He was saying it's the same amount of money as me and my roommate's current rent. And it's a two bed, two bath, beautiful brand new home. Never lived in in Florida with a pool. Yeah.
Same cost as my apartment in New York City. And I don't live in the nicest apartment in New York City. Oh my gosh, it like breaks my head. Maybe you and Pete, now that we have our new Zoom capabilities, maybe you and Pete land like...
Maybe the outskirts of New York, but maybe Florida. Like, isn't it cool how when you get to that age, if you think about, I think about this all the time, how much you can stretch your dollar other places, just even going out to get a drink and then being like, that's a $9 glass of wine. I'm like, this isn't $24. Oh, I've been hit. Cause you know, Mia, you and I are similar. We're like, when we have a thought, we're impulsive about it. We just kind of like go with it. I've been like hinting to him, like, so Pete, um,
Have you ever heard of West Palm Beach? Have you ever heard of? He's like, shut up. But you're like, we can get a, but when you start, so we were doing this the other day, we were looking at houses in like Franklin, Tennessee, outside of Nashville or like Austin, Texas. Yeah. Because the Vancouver real estate is I think the most expensive maybe per something in the world. Yeah.
And it's insane. So it's been it's been fascinating for Harrison growing up to always look at real estate sizes. And then you come to Oklahoma and it's drastic. So we'll get on Zillow and we'll look at these places. And it's hard. It's hard to not just get one without even going to the city.
Just knowing alone, you can just live there for that price. You almost just move. Austin, Texas and West Palm Beach are the two largest areas for billionaires to go to right now. Austin is just getting an influx of the younger entrepreneurs that. Yeah. And hey, listen, Google the taxes in Texas and Florida, and it makes total sense. No state tax. Unbelievable. Vegas. But I like I don't want to live there. I know. And you and I are really lucky to where
pre New York, making a big life decision was terrifying to me. But now that I have made that big life decision, like to me, I don't think of moving as like a scary thing and like starting over because we've done it before. So I was thinking I was talking to Pete. I'm like, I'm so lucky I have that because I know it's feasible. But for him, he's never done that, like quit a job, started a new job, moved to a different state. He's lived in
New York, Connecticut, practically like 45 minutes from the same place for his whole entire life. And I'm like, I'm so lucky that I've made that hurdle because it doesn't scare me. But in Minnesota to make the first hurdle, I was terrified. Because on the other side, all you think about is what can go wrong. Yeah. But that's a really good point. So I actually thought about that from a Harrison standpoint, because he said the toughest time in his life was when he moved to Hong Kong, which...
Of course that would be jarring. How old was he when he did that? How old were you when you moved to Hong Kong? I've lost him. I think 25 or 26. That's, that's like a very young age to, to move to a different country. Right. And, and one that's, I mean, we're, I mean, a 17, 18 hour flight from home and not know anybody. And I thought that's, I actually, I'm so glad you said this. Cause I never thought that like, we've also done a version of that. Yeah. Well, and especially you, because you went to Oklahoma to LA and then to New York. Yeah.
Yeah, that's a really good point. Like, I do think as far as moving anywhere in the US, I think you and I both you can't shock us.
No. And also too, I know it sounds so scary and daunting to like make new friends and do this or that, but I promise you, if you put in the work and put yourself out there, you're going to meet people and friends because this world is filled of people who are lonely and want to make friends. A lot. Yes. And if they don't, you'll know very quickly and just move on. But most people, unless they live in like a non-transplant city, right? Born in the first question they ask you is like,
Like where did you go to high school or something? And a lot of people from there haven't moved there. People are, and even those people like are so willing to make friends, but a lot of these transparent, like an Austin, a West Palm where they get an influx of people, people there love to make friends. Yeah. And like, you just have to put yourself out there in the sense of like, go like, we've talked about this so many times, but like going to that workout class, going to a pottery class, a jewelry making class, a book club, like that,
reaching out to someone on social media like there's so many people who who are always looking for friends um listener q hi i need some advice bad i've been working in a male dominated field for the last two years my boss is very comfortable with his staff discussing things very openly he also tends to freak out at work on our athletes quite frequently we're strength coaches oh that would be mailed not always male dominated but that makes sense
I asked him a question following a meeting regarding schedule changes for the summer. He answered me with no issue, but brought up the fact that I made more money than my coworkers, so I should be okay with working worse hours.
He then called me on our way home and presumed to scream at me, telling me my mental health makes him nauseous and I'm ungrateful. This isn't the first time he's told me this. It was an outright rude conversation that ended up with him hanging up on me. I have to continue to work for him until I find a new job, but I'm not sure if this is the field I want to be in regardless of him. Should I take this as a sign and move on to something bigger and better? I mean, I'm a massive advocate of always trying new things. Like I, I,
Once again, this happened because we made the move to Barstool in New York. Like I made a massive career jump and it was best decision I ever made.
But it's very scary when you first do it. But I always think you can always go back if you are unhappy. So she could try something out for six months. You always can go back to strength training. You have the degree, you have the resume, you have the experience. So why not? Like you don't want to live your whole life always wondering what if. So I say go for it.
Yeah. And I think you sent me the Alex Cooper quote, but it was like, never let your mental health keep you in a place where you know isn't good for you. Like in terms of working. Yeah. And I think if you were just working bad hours and that was it fine in terms of keeping an income like grind it out.
Um, but in terms of like somebody making these comments to you, nothing's worth that. So I say the number one thing is like be financially responsible, right? Let's, let's be able to pay rent and things like that. But outside of that, F that girl, like he's hanging up on you. Uh,
No way. And so I think make the leap and don't be afraid because anything will be better than putting up with that guy. Yeah. Or even like just go to a different company first and make sure it's not him. That's the problem. Cause maybe you love it, but he's just like tainting that, that like thought of for you. So try a new company. And then if you hate that, go to a different career. Yeah. I don't think there's a world where either of us are going to say though, like, go ahead, stay. No, that, that was such like a, a baby boomer thought process. Like just stay.
He wants you to stay. He thinks he could beat you into the ground and you'll stay. But I think you need to show him what the millennials are made of and tuck and roll. Yeah. People hate us for it, but you know, we're happier. Yeah. See ya. Like, and you need better workers. Like he needs you. So bye. Cause he'd fire you if he didn't. So you have the leverage. So see ya. Facts. Um, do you want to do recs? Yes. What's your rec? I saw your rec, but what is your rec? Okay. So my rec is, um,
Do you have Peacock? Yes. Yellowstone. Oh, really? That's on Peacock? Yeah. I didn't know that. So there's a new show on Peacock called Apples Never Fall. And you would... Yeah, who's in it? It's like a very well-known group of people. So the guy from White Lotus is in it. Let me quick pull it up. I saw this, yes. Annette Bening, Sam Neill, Jake Lacey, Chris...
Alison Brie, like a very, a decently well-known cast.
but it's so good. Like Peacock really outdid themselves because this is a show that to me would be on like HBO Max because it has like that suspense, like you don't really know family drama. - Oh yeah. - And really good acting, but long story short, 'cause like I want you to watch it. It's just about this family that gets intertwined with this like random girl and then the mom disappears and you have to figure out like what happened to her. - Oh.
But the whole family's like involved in each episodes about a different family member. And I watched it in like two days. It was so good. Oh, I've been like what trying to watch show. So I'll watch that. But I've seen something on it. And I remember thinking this sounds interesting. I saw it written and I thought I've seen that. OK, I will check that out. I think you and Harrison would really enjoy watching that together. OK, I love I love that. Apple doesn't fall.
And then never fall. Apples never fall. OK. OK. That's juicy. Mine is a book by Ginny Allen. Get out of your head. And I've been reading it and I really love it. Like it's it's so good for the summer, like the spring to summer transition and just actually just recognizing things that are fear, how being close to people is good for you. Like it's just a really feel good, happy, primarily female book.
Do you have any like good quotes or lessons you've learned from it? Because I feel like everyone is always like, we miss Alex's quotes. I think the quote, it's not an exact. Well, the main thing recently is just that we're not wired to do things alone. So and and the first thought she always says the way to like mitigate thoughts that come into your head is just to say, like, I have a choice.
And she loves her. If you think of your head as a pie chart, if you fill it with good, then you start to exude the bad. And that rewires your brain neurons. Like it's as simple as that. Just get the bad out and get good in. Like you could be like, I'm anxious about X, Y, Z. Or you could be like, it's a beautiful day. And just as simple, basic, good thought gets rid of one and a bad thought. So I think she's not a big like quote gal, but I love, I just, it's a, it's a very fuzzy, warm and fuzzy book.
I love that. Yeah. Every morning we wake up, we have the choice to be positive or negative. I try to tell myself that. And I start my day. I won't check my phone until I've read a chapter. And that's been, it's like lovely. Like with the weather turning and reading that, it's really happy. Oh, I love that. Yay. So we have a good book rec and a good TV show rec. Yeah, there we go. Okay. Well, that's all I have from Florida. That's all I have from Oklahoma and it's lunchtime. So I'm going to go get Tex-Mex.
Oh, please, please have the queso for me. Or you can't, but have Harrison. I would never have the queso for you, but I will have him get the queso for you. Yes.
Have fun. Tell the family to say hi. Okay, well, you do the same. Okay, bye, everyone. Bye. Okay, that's it for today's episode.
