1. CHINA POST ISSUES STAMPS TO MARK YEAR OF THE TIGER

虎蕴吉祥！虎年生肖邮票正式亮相

China Post today issued a set of two stamps to mark the upcoming Year of the Tiger. The postage value of each set is 2.4 yuan. A total of 79.2 million commemorative【纪念的】 stamps will be issued. Zhang Hong tells us more.

为了纪念即将来临的虎年，中国邮政于1月5日正式发行特种邮票（一套两枚）。全套纪念邮票面值为2.4元，计划发行量为7,920万枚。

At 5am, stamp collectors were lining up at a post office on Sinan Road【思南路】to buy the Year of the Tiger stamps. Although the set can also be purchased online, many collectors prefer going in person because they enjoy the atmosphere.

当天凌晨5点，广大邮迷们早已在思南路的一家邮局前排起了长队。尽管通过线上渠道也能够买到本套邮票，但许多邮迷们表示他们喜欢这种排队购买的氛围，因此更愿意亲自来邮局进行购买。

The stamps were officially released for sale at 6:30 am. The set features one stamp of an imposing【壮观的，气势雄伟的】tiger looking into the distance, which symbolizes the prosperity of the nation. The other depicts an adult tiger taking care of two cubs, signifying the harmony and happiness of the family.

虎年生肖邮票于当日凌晨六点半正式发售。套装里的一枚邮票上描绘了一只气宇轩昂的老虎，矗立远眺、志存高远，彰显着国家的蒸蒸日上；另一枚则描绘了虎妈妈抚育两只小虎的温馨场景，寓意儿孙兴旺、家庭美满。

The stamps are available at 87 post offices across the city.

2. AMAZON DENIES RUMORS KINDLED BY MEDIA REPORTS

Kindle退出中国市场？亚马逊的回应来了

Amazon has denied local media reports that its flagship e-book readers may be withdrawn from China. The e-commerce giant issued a statement saying it remains committed【尽心尽力的】to customers in China, and that they can continue to purchase Kindle e-readers from offline and third-party online retailers.

1月4日有中国媒体报道称，电商巨头亚马逊旗下的Kindle电子书阅读器或将退出中国市场，亚马逊对该类报道进行了否认。亚马逊发表声明，宣称企业仍致力于服务中国消费者。消费者可以继续通过从线下和第三方线上零售商购买Kindle设备。

Amazon closed its store on Alibaba’s T-mall in October, and recent local media reports have cited "multiple sources within Amazon China," as saying the company’s Kindle hardware team had been shut down in November. The message went viral【（在网络上）疯传】on Chinese social media yesterday, but both the JD.com Kindle shop and Amazon China’s customer services have since said they have received no notice that Kindle would be pulled from China. A representative of Kindle’s store on JD.com is quoted as saying the electronic readers are currently sold out, but that new stock is on order.

亚马逊Kindle天猫官方旗舰店已于2021年10月底闭店。而近日，部分中国媒体援引“亚马逊中国内部多个独立信源”称，公司Kindle硬件团队已于去年11月被裁撤。该条消息昨日在中国社交媒体上引起轰动。但Kindle京东旗舰店和亚马逊中国的客服均表示，他们未曾收到Kindle将撤出中国的通知。Kindle京东旗舰店的一位负责人表示，目前电子阅读器确已售罄，新库存正在采购中。

3. REGULATOR FINES TECH GIANTS FOR FAILING TO REPORT MONOPOLY DEALS

反垄断再出重拳！腾讯、阿里、B站被罚

The government’s market regulator today slapped heavy fines on tech giant Tencent, e-commerce giant Alibaba and video sharing platform Bilibili, for violating the anti-monopoly law.

1月5日，国家市场监管总局对违反反垄断法的企业处于巨额罚款，其中包括科技巨头腾讯、电商巨头阿里巴巴, 和视频分享平台哔哩哔哩。

The State Administration for Market Regulation【国家市场监管总局】 announced 13 cases of violation and issued fines of 500,000 yuan（about USD$80,000）per case. Tencent was involved in nine of the cases and so was fined 4.5 million yuan（about USD$700,000）in total. The fines are in line with China’s efforts to enforce anti-monopoly regulations, and most were levied for unreported share purchases in suppliers and logistic providers. In November 2021 the regulator listed 43 investment deals that companies failed to report properly, and imposed a 500,000 yuan fine for each of them.

市场监管总局公布了十三例违法的案件，每个案件处罚金额为50万元。腾讯涉及其中的9起，累计处罚450万元。这次处罚反映了中国不断致力于实行反垄断监管的举措，而大部分罚款是针对未上报的供应商和物流供应商的股份购买而征收的。2021年11月，市场监管总局列出了43项企业未按规定上报的投资交易，并对所有违法企业处以50万元人民币的罚款。

4. DPRK FIRES PROJECTILE TOWARDS EAST SEA

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff【韩国联合参谋本部】 said today that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea fired an unidentified【未被识别的】projectile towards the East Sea. Zhang Yue tells more.

韩国联合参谋本部于1月5日称，朝鲜当天向朝鲜半岛东部海域发射不明发射体。

The projectile, believed to be a ballistic missile, was launched towards the East Sea from central DPRK at about 8:10 a.m. local time. South Korea’s presidential National Security Council today held an emergency meeting, expressing concerns about the DPRK’s launch of a projectile that was believed to be a short-range ballistic missile. The country’s President, Moon Jae-in said that South Korea and the DPRK should not give up【放弃】on dialogue to overcome concerns stemming from【来自】the DPRK’s missile launches.

这枚发射物据信为一枚是弹道导弹，于当地时间上午8点10分左右从朝鲜中部向东海发射。韩国国家安全委员会当日召开紧急会议，对此次据信为短程弹道导弹的不明发射物表示担忧。韩国总统文在寅表示，韩国和朝鲜不应该放弃通过借助对话协商来消除此枚导弹引发担忧的机会。

The Japanese government confirmed the news later in the day, saying the DPRK launched a projectile that "appears to be a ballistic missile." Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida responded that it is regrettable【令人遗憾的】that the DPRK has continued to fire missiles since last year.

日本政府于当天晚些时候证实了此消息，称朝鲜发射了一枚“疑似弹道导弹”的发射物。日本首相岸田文雄回应道，自去年起，朝鲜再次发射导弹，这令人遗憾。

This is the DPRK’s first missile test in 2022. The last test-firing was conducted on Oct. 19, 2021 when the DPRK test-launched a new type of submarine-launched ballistic missile.

这是朝鲜2022年首次试射导弹。上一次试射发生在2021年10月19日，当时朝鲜试射了一枚新型潜射导弹。
