1.CHINESE NAVAL VESSELS EVACUATE NATIONALS FROM SUDAN

中国海军紧急撤离我国在苏丹人员

Two Chinese naval vessels have evacuated【疏散】 678 people from conflict-hit Sudan and arrived at Jed-dah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia. It was the third overseas evacuation mission for the Chinese Navy, following operations in Libya in 2011 and Ye-men in 2015.

两艘中国海军舰艇从受冲突影响的苏丹疏散了678人，抵达了沙特阿拉伯吉达伊斯兰港。这是中国海军继2011年利比亚撤离行动和2015年也门撤离行动之后，第三次执行海外紧急撤离任务。

“When I saw the PLA, I burst into tears. I'm so touched.”

The vessels are part of the 43rd Chinese naval escort【护卫队】 task force in the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia. One was the guided-missile destroyer Nanning, while the other was the supply ship Weishanhu.

这些船只是中国海军第43批亚丁湾和索马里附近水域护航特遣部队的一部分。一艘是导弹驱逐舰南宁舰，另一艘是补给舰微山湖舰。

The two ships immediately set sail to Port Sudan after receiving the order and arrived yesterday. Upon their arrival at Port Sudan, soldiers cleared a security area at the dock and set up spaces for assembly, registration, security checks and boarding. Special operation forces guarded the site in full gear. Buses transporting the first evacuees【撤离者】 arrived at the dock at about 4:40 pm local time.

这两艘船在接到命令后立即起航，并于4月26日抵达苏丹港。停靠码头后，士兵们在码头布设安全警戒区域，设立集结、登记、安检、登舰等区划。特别行动部队全副武装地守卫在现场。运送第一批疏散人员的巴士在当地时间下午4点40分左右抵达码头。

2.CHINA STEPS UP EFFORTS TO BOOST EMPLOYMENT

中国加大力度促进就业

2.97 million new jobs were created across the country in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 120,000 year-on-year. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said today that the government will work to further stabilize employment. Now Wang Yin has more.

今年第一季度，全国城镇新增就业297万人，同比增加了12万人。人力资源和社会保障部24日表示，政府将致力于进一步稳定就业。王吟带来详细报道。

The surveyed urban unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent in March, down from 5.6 percent in February, according to ministry data. The unemployment rate for people aged between 16 and 24 stood at almost 20 percent last month, up 1.5 percentage points compared to February. The ministry said more than 11.5 million students are expected to graduate from universities this year, a record high. It will step up efforts to promote employment and entrepreneurship for college graduates.

根据人社部数据，3月份，城镇调查失业率从2月份的5.6%下降到5.3%。上个月，16至24岁城镇青年人失业率为近20%，与2月份相比上升了1.5个百分点。人社部表示，今年高校毕业生规模预计超过1150万人，创下历史新高。人社部将加大努力，促进大学毕业生的就业和创业。

“We will continue offering subsidies【补贴】 to companies that hire unemployed people. In the past, it was just for companies that hired college graduates, now it has expanded to companies hiring those who couldn't find a job two years after college graduation and registered unemployed people aged between 16 and 24. All companies are eligible for the subsidies, while before it was just micro, small and medium-sized companies. Also, we offer state-owned enterprises a larger quota for new staff and payroll to help them hire more people.”

A ministry official said they have helped 400,000 people in cities and towns find a job in the first three months of the year. They will continue to look for people in need and offer financial aid to jobless people.

人社部一官员称，一季度累计帮助城镇困难人员实现就业40万人。他们将继续把困难人员作为重点群体，并向符合条件的生活困难失业人员及家庭提供财政援助。

“运用创业担保贷款及贴息、一次性创业补贴政策，支持困难人员自主创业；运用社保补贴政策，加大困难人员灵活就业的保障水平。对通过市场渠道确实难以实现就业的，合理统筹公益性岗位给予安置，确保零就业家庭至少一人就业。”

“We will encourage jobless people to start their own businesses by offering them better loan terms and subsidies. We will help them find a job and make full use of social security financial aid. For those who do find it difficult to get a job, we will offer them a public welfare post and ensure at least one person in a family gets a job.”

Other supportive policies were introduced. For example, if new employees in a micro company reach a certain percentage, the company will be eligible【符合条件的】for a start-up loan capped at 3 million yuan.

其他支持性政策也陆续出台。例如，对当年新招用符合条件人员达到一定比例的小微企业，可发放最高300万元的创业担保贷款。

3.COMMERCIAL CAR MAKERS TURN ELECTRIC AND HOPE TO MOVE INTO OVERSEAS MARKETS

As electrification was the major focus at this year's auto show in Shanghai, car-makers also presented a slew of new E-V models. Our reporter Zhang Shixuan learns why now is the right time for them to begin exporting electric vehicles.

由于电气化是今年上海车展的焦点，我国各大汽车制造商也展示了一系列新的电动车型。本台记者张诗旋了解到，现在是他们开始出口电动汽车的正确时机。

While ultra-modern-looking passenger cars, and luxury cars are of course an attraction at all auto shows, it's hard to ignore the massive eye-catching container trucks at this year's event in Shanghai. The makers of this new energy-heavy truck claim it is the first in the world that can be refitted into an autonomous driving truck.

尽管超现代的乘用车和豪华车在所有汽车展览会上都无疑是最吸引人的焦点，但今年上海展览会上巨型货车尤为引人注目。这款新能源重型卡车的制造商声称，它是世界上第一款“可升级自动驾驶”的卡车。

“The truck was designed with a chassis-by-wire. With this chassis, once our clients want to upgrade the truck into an autonomous driving vehicle, we just need to add some sensors to it, and update the software remotely. At this year's auto show, we have partners from Southeast Asia, Europe and South America coming to see our products. Our clients are usually looking for container transport tools in scenarios including ports, factories and rail transport.”

The autonomous electric truck maker has now exported its services and products to 16 countries and regions. And that new truck has been hauling cargo in one of Thailand's ports for five months now.

With years of experience in developing pickups, SAIC Maxus presented its new fully electric large pickup truck. While its traditional pickup models have already gained much popularity in markets like Australia, the launch of the EV pickup is part of the company's ambitions to move further into the global market.

“People have the usual perception that commercial models should be dated. It's old. It's just for rigid, just for functionality. But rather it's not. It's about scenarios, it's about functionality, but also about a better experience. So what do we have for the electric models, we don't see just their current demand, but rather the demand in development, a future demand.”

“人们通常认为商用车型是过时的、僵硬的、只注重功能性的。但实际上并非如此，它关乎使用场景、功能性，也关乎更好的用户体验。因此，对于电动车型，我们不仅看到了当前的需求，更看到了未来的需求和发展趋势。”

The European market could be the next destination for the new model. As the European Parliament has formally approved a law to effectively ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the EU from 2035.

欧洲市场可能是这种新车型的下一个目标。欧洲议会已经正式通过了一项法律，即从2035年起在欧盟范围内禁止销售新的汽油和柴油汽车。

“Traditionally, European market are quite strict on the pickup because people have the perception that pickup is quite heavy and have a lot of emissions. So usually they are not so friendly to the European market in terms of the pickup. But for electric, it's quite eco-friendly and no emissions at all. So it's really an opportunity for us to explore the European market in terms of the pickup. Last year we have exported a lot of T90 EV, our first generation of the full-electric pickup to the European market. Actually we have gained a lot of popularity there.”

“传统上，欧洲市场对皮卡车持有相当严格的态度，因为人们认为皮卡车比较重，排放量很大。因此，皮卡车在欧洲市场上并不受欢迎。但电动皮卡非常环保，完全没有排放。因此对于我们来说，这是一个探索欧洲市场的机会。去年，我们向欧洲市场出口了大量T90 EV，这是我们的第一代全电动皮卡。我们在那里获得了很高的知名度。”

With the company's products currently being exported to more than 70 countries and regions, Chen believes the company's entire product line will be electric in the future.
