The water is nice and cool. Maeve loves her swimming lessons. A magical world of sounds made just for you and your grown-ups to enjoy together. I'm Lucy. How are you today? In my first podcast, we learn about sounds and the words that go with them. There are so many sounds that we hear every day. Plangs, twangs, drums...

buzzes and booms, tickling in your ear sounds and crashing far too noisy sounds. Each day is filled with wonderful sounds. And of course, we can make sounds ourselves too. Did you hear that? I'm taking a big sip of my drink. Can you make a sound too? Maybe your grown-ups can show you. It's time for our sound adventure.

But before we can go on our adventure, we need our magical bag of sounds. Are you here, bag of sounds? Ah, there you are! This bag is full of exciting sounds for today's adventure. I wonder what's inside? Let's open the bag to take a little listen. The sounds are all swirling around. Can you hear some of them? That's the sound of a drum.

Maybe a drum will be in our sound adventure today. Okay, bag, it's time for you to pick our sounds. Let's close the zip and mix them up nicely. Let's dive into our bag of sound and see what treasures can be found. A honking horn, a door that creaks. Let's shake it up and take a peek. One, two, three.

That sounds like a splash. A splash is the sound that water makes when you jump in a puddle or into a pool. Drops of water go flying everywhere. What fun! Now on to sound number two. I wonder which sound will pop out next. Hmm, do you know what this is? That's right, it's a whistle.

A whistle is a little thing you blow into and it makes a high, sharp sound. Thank you Bag of Sounds for giving us two sounds for today's adventure. A splash and a whistle. Now we only need one more sound to start our adventure. And this sound will tell us where our adventure takes place. It could be outside or inside. We could be at a zoo or in a shop.

Where will our sound adventure be? Let's open the bag one more time. It sounds like we're inside. It's a bit echoey. I can hear children having fun and splashing water too. I know, we are at the swimming pool. So for today's sound adventure, we are at the swimming pool with a splash and a whistle. And this is Maeve. Hello, Maeve.

Maeve is at the swimming pool with her grandad. She's going to her swimming lesson. How exciting! I wonder when our sounds will pop up. Listen out for the splash and the whistle. Can you spot them? Then here we go! Maeve and Grandad get ready in the pool changing rooms. Grandad puts their clean clothes and brushes into the locker, ready for later.

Maeve and Grandad walk towards the pool. There are lots of people having a lovely time at the pool today. Grandad helps Maeve put on her swimming armbands, making sure they're snug and ready for swimming. The swimming teacher blows his whistle and it's time to start the lesson. All the children line up at the edge of the pool. Maeve's swimming lesson begins with a big splash.

The water is nice and cool. Maeve loves her swimming lessons. The swimming pool is such a lively place and Maeve loves to swim. Now let's listen again and see if you can spot the splash and the whistle. Shout out loud when you hear them. That's a big splash. That's the whistle. The splashing water.

Did you spot our sounds too? Great job! What an exciting adventure we had. Now it's time for us to put our sounds back in the bag. By splash, by whistle. There, they're all safely back in the bag, ready for their next adventure. Before we go, let's sing the sound adventure song. Every day learning new sounds.

Listen out to hear what we feel Long ones and shorter ones Beeps and blare ones Lower ones, taps and chirps Inside or outside we hear We love to hear sounds big and small Listen close to what we have heard For every sound

Thanks for joining me on our sound journey today.
