Hello everybody, and welcome to a new episode of News Bites!

And I'm Ryan Drillsma.

In today's news:

A crane flies to Taiwan, a man flies into a volcano, and Thee Stallion graduates from college.

All that and more, coming up next.

Yilan Asks Silence for Siberan Crane

"Shh…"

Yilan is asking for quiet in one part of the city.

It's trying not to scare a Siberian crane.

Siberian cranes are tall snow-white birds, with some black feathers, and a red face.

The Siberian crane is listed as critically endangered.

They live in parts of Russia.

And the cranes fly to China and Iran for the winter.

They usually do not pass through Taiwan.

But one of these cranes landed in Yilan last month!

The bird has been living in a rice paddy (稻田) there.

Now the city is working with temples close to the rice paddy.

It has asked the temples to keep as quiet as possible.

The temples will try not to ring bells or light firecrackers for ceremonies.

And the city is also asking people who live around there to help too.

Everyone should try not to set off fireworks for holidays like New Year's Eve, and the Lunar New Year.

The city has also set up big signs around the rice paddy.

The signs ask people to keep quiet.

And farmers there are also asked not to use pesticides (農藥), which might hurt the crane.

Yilan city officials say they have a team of people closely watching the crane to try to keep it safe.

Wingsuit Pilot Flies In and Out of Volcano

Jumping out of a helicopter seems like a scary thing to do, right?

How about jumping without a parachute?

And into a volcano?

That doesn't just sound scary.

It sounds almost crazy!

But that's just what Sebastian Alvarez did.

Sebastian was a pilot (飛行員) in Chile's Air Force.

He learned how to skydive (跳傘) in the Air Force, and loved it.

Then he started wingsuit flying

He jumps from a high place wearing a special suit.

When he spreads out his arms and legs, the suit helps him to glide (飛行、滑行) through the air.

Sebastian wanted to try something with a wingsuit that no one has tried before.

And earlier this month, Sebastian did it.

Wearing just a wingsuit, he jumped out of a helicopter at 3,500 meters up in the sky.

Then he flew through the air, going as fast as 280 kilometers per hour.

And on his way down, he flew into, then out of a volcano!

The volcano in Chile is called "Villarrica".

The name means "the Devil's House".

It's one of Chile's most active (活躍) and dangerous volcanoes.

Sebastian says he asked the volcano if it would be okay to fly into and out of its crater (火山口).

And after going through, he said "thank you".

You must be wondering if Sebastian was scared.

He says he was! But he says he always tries to turn being scared into something positive.

But Sebastian is an expert (專家), and all this takes a lot of hard work and practice.

You should never try out something dangerous without an expert to keep you safe.

Sebastian says he already has ideas for his next jump.

Sebastian
