Shownotes Transcript

Hello everybody, and welcome to a new episode of News Bites!

I'm Trevor Tortomasi…

And I'm Nancy Sun.

In today's news:

A Tainan museum gets new skeletons, an Australian boy is lost and found, and one of the Beatles is publishing a book.

All that and more, coming up next.

Human Skeletons Moved To Tainan Museum

Skeletons (骷髏) can be scary, or strange, if you see them in the wrong place.

But when archaeologists (考古學家) find a skeleton, they'll probably be very excited!

That's because skeletons of animals, including people, can show how they lived and help tell the story of the place around them.

And in February of this year, archaeologists found two human (人類) skeletons in Chiayi (嘉義).

They were found near a place called Taidoukeng (台斗坑), and researchers think they are about 2,500 years old!

When archaeologists found the skeletons, they were facing each other (面對面).

They say this could mean the two people were part of the same family when they were alive.

Researchers say the Taidoukeng area was probably a burial ground, next to a village where people lived thousands of years ago.

Now, scientists are moving the skeletons to the Museum of Archaeology in Tainan (台灣史前文化博物館), where they can study them more.

This discovery is great news for Chiayi, and shows how important the city is, in the history of Taiwan.

It also allows archeologists and other scientists to explore a little deeper into the history of Chiayi's people.

So even though skeletons can be scary, remember how much you can learn from them!

Australian Boy Rescued After Being Lost For Three Days

Do you get lost easily?

It's easy to get lost in a big city, and easy to find your way again, because there are usually people around to help.

But getting lost in the forest (森林) is much more dangerous.

And a mom and dad in Australia were very scared when their little boy was lost in the forest for three days.

But there's a happy ending!

The 3-year-old boy, named Anthony, was at home on a Friday… and then, suddenly, he wasn't.

At first, his parents were afraid that someone had taken him. Anthony

They called the police, and more than one hundred officers spent the whole weekend looking for Anthony.

Finally, on Monday, a police officer found him next to a river, about half a kilometer away from his parents' house.

Anthony had scrapes (割傷) on his legs, and his clothes were wet, but he was still okay!

He had survived (存活了) in the forest for three days, by drinking water from the river.

Anthony was taken to a hospital for a checkup, but doctors said he was in good health.

His parents were extremely happy to have him back home.

You probably won't get lost like this in Taiwan, right?

Either way, make sure you bring some extra water, just in case!
