So IT is just, I mean, I brought my laptop. We're lucky as seriously, I like he just finish packing, got the email and I was out the door, so I didn't even go. I actually thought about taking IT with me. Now the other thing .

Okay, I ended a day o'clock in the morning and didn't go to bed until last night. And IT doesn't matter, but point is I wouldn't use IT anyway.

Even I brought IT because I want to sleep. I had to sleep the whole time like little. They tried to bring me food. No, please stop, interrupt, ting me with questions about food i'm going to sleep.

You know what I said like that was real forceful apple major announcement yesterday about final cut and logic pro. And I think final cut pro, really the exciting for logic pro, got like plugging search that has some a quantel room simulator. Are you an expert on that?

Have no idea.

Those would mean it's not about river. But anyway, if you use for new features there, i'm in final cut every day, every day. And so this a big updates, both for final cut on the mac and final cut on ipad and final cut camera.

So fka pro is now eleven. They turned IT up to eleven. Is a joke right there. Are that now you have transcribe the subtitles we should not talk about in the second.

Because this, I feel that I anyway transcribe to captions and you connect them a subtitles magnetic mask, which means you can like, select the subject and they will track IT just by a single click, and you can do things like learning IT or applying effects just to that magnetic mask that will stick to a subject, and also have special video editing, so you can make edit special video that you have captured on apple vision pro, on iphone fifteen pro and newer past worker improvements and final cut camera. The APP now has H V C and log recording after four k one twenty. Let previews and final cut for ipad as new live drawing inks.

So if you can live, draw the apple pencil and you will animated for you apple pencil pro haptics. So you will, you know do haptics while you're editing in such and the new content and new worker improvements like picture and pictures. So pretty big updates for final cup.

I do wish the transcribe to captions or subtitles that I mean, it's transcribing and in final cut, which is a big deal that something that adobe premier prose even able to transcribe and then even edit and like search the transcript IT does not appear to be that full fledge like it's not. You can edit obviously by the transcript and even exporting IT. You can just export a plane text file of IT because one of things I do is I transcribe my videos and run through ChatGPT for like tag ideas or whatever.

And you can get the S R T out like that S R T. But you can get just like a plane text file. So hopefully they adds more those features to, but it's great.

Next step in the direction of you y're calling IT A I features. They are all over this thing that only A I features. So, yeah, welcome up. great.

yeah. And I think some of this feels like it's meant to bring the lapped up, dust up version of final cut, the mac version of final cut up to what? Because they had already made some of these changes in, like ipad version.

And so I actually felt kind of we are like ipad version. A final cut doesn't get a lot of the features that the scope person does. But I had like them all I can support, like the final cut camera support that stuff. So there was a kind of this weird point back in may where final cut on the ipad had, like advanced farther that I had on the mac. And do you call IT out, I guess during the the man they're .

in the mac announcements .

where they kept highlighting final cut and you're like, I wonder what this means and now they finally told us what that means, but you did IT is kind of cool. You can run final cut now on the mac mini logic as well, which is kind of zarah the now that eight, seventeen pro was just the thing that pushed up. I still don't think you should do like that. Queen is too small. The ipad.

the ipad mini. And I, when I made the video for the ipad mini, literally just open final cut and start press play for the video to say, you can do this, but I would never actually at IT video yeah but .

there's a big leap between podcast editing and fair, right? And most I can can video editing in final a yeah.

And after i've tried multiple times to edit in final cut on the ipad APP because I was like this would be amazing when i'm traveling like you are now to just have my ipad and be able to edit and other kind of stuff. But it's just not not not for me.

it's really only good for like things like for example, if you wanted to take a horse zonal video dump IT in their turn IT into a vertical video and do that on your ipad, you're not actually making edit and stuff to IT. You're like I just need to do a thing to this video and I know final cut can do that.

The ipad is great for some of those things or less, you need you to trim something down so that IT was under a minute to share like but again, you can do all those things in, like the native photos, upper in cap cut, different places. So yeah, IT is kind of interesting. I would love you here if we have listeners who are actually using final cut on their on their ipad. And if that are not like high school students.

well, I know, I know a fact. Fernando silver, who makes videos over a nine to five mac, I think, uses IT exclusively, like he doesn't add video on his. And he came from the other video editing APP that was there.

What was I called the a luma fusion, is luma fusion before that. So a people are doing IT. I think Christa lolly, youtube R I believe he at its in final cut on his ipad as well come from moving fusion.

So people are doing IT, you know. But I also want to say so final cut camera is the free APP that lets you film like in log record or record like a next in less is D N all that. But before apple all announcements, I do want to give a shout out to keo.

It's the looks camera where the makers of the highlight camera, APP kino, is their video APP. And they updated their hap earlier in the day yesterday before apple's announcements, and they updated to have four k one twenty frames per second. We have a sixteen pro or pro max, and they have a Better this overall, just improve the whole thing and more lots and other kind of stuff.

So if you are looking for an APP and maybe you're not craze about the final cut camera or you just want to try a different kind of pro video recording APP, the black magic camera APP i've used before, and it's obviously very powerful, but IT feels little clunky to me and a little too complicated and key OS just in the perfect sweet pot for what i'm looking for. And so if you wanted to just experiment with some apps capturing IT to one time, purchase no, subscription no is pretty great. So i'm going to linked that in the shown notes.

going to just say I think the the final cut for camera APP is really just meant to be like the killer APP for that is if you want to set up three iphones, use your ipad in doing multi cam like live and and that's really the because really and actually you know didn't exist at the time.

I don't think and really IT was sort of a response to the um the black magic camera up and it's like let's give people a slightly easier way to do this but still give IT the robust features because the black magic is the camera APP is great but IT is like you can really quickly get into the weeds of these manuals to make changes and to do stuff. So I think I think they serve slightly different purposes. But you're right, IT is a great is a great video.

Yeah, it's a great one. So check those links are in the shower notes and one other apple update. This is an, I was eighteen, that two, which is coming likely in december, seen the summer night as a date floating around there.

But apples fine. Mine was updated. So if you have items or an air tag or find my network accessory, which i've had, things like E S R wallets that are fine mine, but not air tag in a precision location.

But you have items now in the find my APP, once eighteen or two comes out, you should be able to have a link, share a link to someone, and they can actually see the location of that device, like loaded up in a web browser and even in the future, shared with things like airlines. And hopefully, I guess if their customer services on the ball, find the item that's that's cool. What you say if the .

customer is on the ball, this is a thing that apple is like partners with the airlines. So I feel like there's probably like an infrastructure system on their end to like facilitate this because i'm sure that the thing that airlines love the most is when people call them are group to the baggage just but haven't here taking IT looks, see here, just go there please. Like that's probably super anything.

So having some sort of a way to share that directly, like I don't know if there's like every airline now has a dummy eye account they can just receive. I don't know how they are doing this. I will tell you even I don't know if you've never play this game.

This is a fun drinking game or whatever, just conversation game, I don't know, but whenever apple makes an announcement and you just google whatever that topic is, right? Whether that's okay. So air tags, airlines or m for mac mini, you google m for mac mini and all the articles are going to be like, or all the resources like youtube reviews, the verge in gadget, whatever.

When you google this, all of the responses are like cbs news, U. S. A today, people magazine like this is the type of thing that Normal people, like non type, actually super care about. And you can tell that that's true by the coverage. This is like a headline feature on cbs news and all of these places. It's kind of a fun little thing to notice like oh, this is what breaks beyond the bubble of the thing like we're all arguing about the m four pro mac, many being faster than the to all just next studio. And if you say that sends to any like random person that yeah I don't know the time, but you tell them that air tags will now send the like your location, your bag, really say more tell me more about this.

That's so that is interesting. So I just I just did a google search because i'm still using google, which j. Tions not anymore can talk about that.

But yeah, like this. A B, C news, U. S, A today.

Yeah, yeah. On all the big ones. Daily mail, yeah. airline. Es, okay, listen, I air tag everything. I got air tagged in my checking, no, I don't check bags, nate. I don't believe I.

I tried to get everything and I Carry on even when I went on like a ten day trip to a leave last year. I just shoved that all in a Carrier on. I wanted check anything .

I Carry in podcast studio here and I didn't check.

This what i'm saying, I trying to chicken me, but I still put air tags even in my Carry on because you never know what happened. I put, I put everywhere. So it's amazing the battery life on air tags too.

I feel like i've changed maybe two or three of them, and I have probably twenty in all different devices. I mean, come on, it's good. Better life. yeah. What would you get your take to tag all your bag?

And I put IT on my Carry on bag. I put her. All our kids have them in their two cases, like they are Carry on bag and all my keys um I don't do the thing in the wall because I use a really slim like to me all that that if you try to stick, overtake and there would just be an actress. I I don't do that, but we put them on basically everything that moves.

So the wallet thing um I i've included isn't like my accessory videos before, but there's a company called cats gig or cx gig. I feel exactly what that is not want to forget IT, but is basically like an an ultrathin wallet with an air tag slot and basically would just fit like three cards. And I I don't know why I can never find this.

I bought one of these and I don't know who was from either. And that's probably good because I hate IT IT. So I don't want to say who was from, but and I had just a little but you can stick and there are taking up but again, like I don't even want to know my wallet is really there unless I put my hand back there to check putting an area tag and like and that's actually the one disadventure ge of having a removable battery. Is your limit's like the size of what IT has to be but didn't like to polo or somebody just come out with a actual card slot tracker to put in your world like this just happened. I I will .

I have the triple o card. I don't know they have one. Now that actually is the precision tracking, but that's the problem with all the third party ones. They don't have precision racket.

They don't have like I little have one of the cars from triple o and you can do the blue tooth and I would like, you know, you can make you have make a sound. There is a built in speaker, which is great. And it'll do like the proximity blue to like the apple TV remote, but IT will not have the arrow come on screen and point you to the thing IT doesn't precision tracking.

And so that's like the air tag is still an airports pro two case are still the only two things that will pop the era on the screen is not even apple vision pro that kind of tracking yeah, which does not matter for Jason because never takes out of house. But this was the world that I got is currently no longer available. So just so that big.

Uh, h they are, say this the rumors are that OpenAI is nearing the launch of an A I agent to automate test. So basically like what anthropic showed off a couple weeks ago, which we talked about on the show, which is that agent style A I that can use a computer for you basically, or take action for you, look like open the eyes, going to be launching an agent to do that similar way is the article from bloomberg talking about IT and code named Operator, Operator anyway. And this is gonna be, again, this is the kind of the next phase of these A I models.

And there was also the room that OpenAIr w as g onna n ounce a m odel e ven b efore t he i nto t he y ear, but not that the Operator model or just the next version of the LLM remains to be seen, but they're nearing that and it's apparently getting so good. Ink ChatGPT search made me quit google for good. Defend, defend. headline.

What do I have to defend? Do I find the headline? The article, the idea? I need to know specifically what IT is that I am.

T. Search, just for all the things you used to go for. Okay.

I have changed my default search in brave to ChatGPT what you can now do with the extension. So literally, every time I type into the the bar, the top IT does a GPT GPT search instead of google search.

However, that's actually super unknowing, because sometimes I actually forget that I did that and I just started typing things in my brain even though I intended to use like, I forget that that's what has happened because for whatever twenty fifteen years i've been doing, google is there. Yes, there are a couple of things. A one of the things I do very frequently is searching my own articles, not because i'm vain, but because I have to like linked to them or i'm trying to remember a thing.

And so i'll do a site search, right? You can take type site call in in any website and then just put stuff after that, and you will search for that. So I have a tex expanders shortcut that I just do that all the time.

And like probably ten times a day when I working on an article, I do IT costley. And I realized that a terrible thing to try to use tragedy for. It'll do IT technically.

But IT doesn't understand like exactly what you're trying to do. So thankfully, in every chrome browser, so brave is a criminal browser. You can just take coal and g and to do a google search.

So I I have now had to teach myself there are a couple of things for which I prefer to do a google search. But I have changed my defauts search engine to ChatGPT and IT is surprisingly good one. I think we can agree google search the best we have also not great, like it's just gotten more and more annoying over the last, let's say, five years.

And I don't if i'm searching for any product, let's say you wanted to know when A A particular product came out. Like you're trying to the wikipedia page for something, but you type in the right like google thinks h you must want to buy this thing, right? So just started showing you like the shopping care ell or amazon links.

I like this. Stop, stop trying to get to filter the money out of like these people. I just wanted to look up when apple inertial.

The I patterns like these are things for a lot. And so g GPT much Better at a lot of the things on a regular basis. I even, I even to searched the, searched the lions like that. Our hometown footles team and IT immediately knew, like you're looking for the football team, told me the most recent game results, showed me some statistics about them, and then gave me a link to the right page.

It's great. I guess I have to figure out where I can. Convenience do IT because alo is naturally third, like type in address bar or safari or whatever. And you still can said that default to chat.

B, T, and safer but you can't crown brave on phone yeah because that's I feel when .

i'm searching for stuff a lot of time that i'm there maybe try on the test top and I will to your point, the google search, we actually had a listener, gme on threads. This is, I think, pretty serious, but this was twenty nine appeal. Tag me.

And then someone saying this is how useful A I is again as a google search for how much how much caffeine in mcDonald's coffee. And the A I overview result from google says a large ice coffee from mcDonald's contains a lot of cafe and there's even there's even a table like an unreasoning ally a table and it's a drink. Large zed coffee caf.

Fine, a lot this ridiculous. But also if I think if I see one more reit result as the top link when I do a goole search, i'm gna lose IT. Okay, I understand maybe read is great.

And there's a trove of information, just valuable stuff in there. It's never what I want to see any time when I search google. And if I ever do follow that read IT link, so long as they want the read APP stall in my phone.

And so the little pople comes on like, you wanna to the APP, or do you want to open in the door? And so like three steps just to read whatever nonsense post doesn't have the answer i'm looking for. It's can stand IT. I don't I don't know why, why, why do they do the right thing? We're just read IT all the time.

I mean, I would I would assume the answer to that question is what think there's a lot of money involved in this and red this deal was probably, I don't know, no one to told me this. If someone knows he wants to reach out love to talk web summer, come and find me this afternoon, that d be great. But thank you.

I'm guessing that part of the deal was, yes, send us all the traffic please in in return. Yes, you can train and all of our data like that. Just feels like that's the most obvious thing.

right? I I just don't i've find IT less and less useful, to be honest. I've actually, I feel like in past ten years, I could count on one hand the amount of time i've gone to the second page of results in google search.

And in the last few months, I ve gone to that second and even third page multiple times. Just looking for a legitimate article about the thing that i'm trying to learn about, like I have to get past the A I overview, get past the video links which listen i'm on youtube. I'm thankfully people find my content that way.

And I don't know anybody who doesn't think the vision pro is trying to do too much, who doesn't think that the vision pro is trying to do way too much for the especially once like people start to compare like you, it's trying to do the same thing that the metals are right on glasses and the question doing in the same form factor, and it's just trying to do way too much. I feel like this is, I don't know what that is exactly, but when apple tries to do new things, then IT seems like the apple watch seems like the last thing they were willing to to interview on and make Better over time once they got out into the world. IT feels like, you know, there are people, okay, so there are people in the world to make a decision to do a thing.

And like, we're going to do this thing and then we figure out how to do IT as we go. And we don't need to know exactly where we're going. We're just gonna go out on this road trip and wherever we end up, that's going.

And then there are people who are like, no, I can't even leave the house or decide to leave the house until I figured out every single step of the way and that feels like it's apple. And i'm like now just like, why have you not just taken a home pod mini and glued an ipad mini to and release like that? Like, just seriously, those even like the thing people want is not a thousand dollar six and screen that you have a well attached ment to put on to your world. I just I don't know is that really you think people want .

IT can be a thousand dollars? I think it's well, someone like me wanted to because i'm in the apple smart homework system like hundred percent probably not a lot of people like me uh in in that far into IT and like they talked on the the verge cast people who had joined the stern when SHE interviewed crc federigo e because in that interview he mentioned he opened his door with the voice system I did and it's like.

is that really true? Did we is everyone went on this rapper hole to figure out of thing that feels like when i'm not comparing him to data trumpet and double trumpet like say a random thing and then people would spend like months trying to figure out how I could either be true or not.

like sometimes to say whether whether is true or not. I think the interesting part is, if IT is true, the process to have your garage or open with your iphone assistant is actually laborious. Like IT is not an easy process like you can plug in a home pot and set that up.

That's pretty easy. Changing out a smart light switch, that's the next level of difficulty that most people are not ready to do. And what I see a lot of social media people asking about smart bulbs. The problem is that experience not great in the smart hom. Either smart bulbs are historical hinny, or you have to get a hub.

And so once you start just tip tolling into the smart home world, either have to nerd out about IT and spend a lot of time doing IT or you just a smart plug, and then that's IT. So like for my mom, I gave a couple smart plugs that I had around and he really enjoys IT. SHE could turn on her lamp when he walked in the house by yelling at her home pod mini, and that's cool in order for her to control the government with her phone.

Like I would need to, there's like one or two devices that work with IT. And when I use the marris one, but you literally have to, like, climb up on a letter, you have to plug in the maris device into the little ports on the motor. And then you have to run the context sensor, have to run this huge long line to install your own context sensor on the garage door.

So the mayors thing knows whether the door open and close IT is a lot of work like that in the afternoon of work if you know what you're doing. So overall, it's just think, why would I would love a little smart home home pod with a screen IT would be useful for me because I have a turn of devices already. And so if I can see my six smart home cameras that are all home kids care video and my doorbell, that's valuable to me.

But I think for most people the issue is like step one, like what what would I do with that in the smart home? I guess I could turn my line button off from another screen that caused more than the lap and the smart plug than itself. But like doorbell, because most people have a ring doorbell and to install a home kids cure video doorbell, you have like three options.

You like the wim O A large attack, and you can do an r low if you have a hub immediately. Like he just got too complicated. So I do think I am excited about this device.

I think a small market would be in order for to be mass marketable. I think apple still has to raise the bar on the home kit like entry point. And like I walked into the apple to day a day to, I think to return something.

But I went to like they have the smart home section and they show off like home kit, smart home. And it's like the eve outdoor came, which is a pain connective install. Like you basically have to have light fixed on the outside of your house.

You're willing to replace with a flood light. It's like wiring, like it's complicated and they'll have like a smart plug, which is the easier tury point and you'll have something else like all of IT is complicated. So I do feel like there needs to be a if apple really want smart to be a thing and this device to be a thing, there needs to be A A Better on boarding as an apple user. And apple should say, like just not only here's the smart plug, but I don't know, work is is tough, like smart home is tough, like what what smart home devices do you have that you are just like, this is easy enough. And like most people should do, this is the bulbs.

Yes, if you wanted to rely, you just buy the new true like that. The easy thing to sol, right? And we have the list.

How have the body?

We have the c by g and they work with the google assistance. I've never had a time when I have said, hey, dangerous for google. Turn off the lights in whatever room. And I didn't just instantly do IT for me like.

are those hokey compatible? Are those hokey competed.

But that what did this device in particular, now you do this.

all the things you want to do that you think this device is is going to solve the apple should spend the billion dollars fixing the assistant because you don't need the device of your home pods. Could just do all this right? You can talk to the assistant with home pods, with your phone, with your watch, which is the only place I suggest anyone talk to their assistant is with their watch. You can do all those things. The problem is not needing this device does not need to exist to fix all of those things. Also, by the way, I don't want we don't have time, because I have to go soon to get into this that I just want to say there has never been a time of my life when I didn't need to either open or close the garage door and I wasn't just standing there by the bottom like i've never needed to do that when I wasn't just right there and could just tapped the button right on the and I replace my granddad recently didn't give a single thought to whether that they would be compatible with any thought home, anything, because every time I want to open the garage door, i've opened the door for my house and I pushed the button. And every time I want to close IT, it's because i'm walking in the .

house and I just push the button. I just the gradual to people, those ceaseless things, because someone has to have work, like if someone's coming in the house needs to work on IT or let somebody in the house, they don't have a key and the key pad outside doesn't work because mine doesn't work, because ant develop next and where whatever. Like, I like opening the garage remotely and doing for my watch.

But I just think the barrier to entry, the smart home, I think that is a bigger problem to solve in this. I'm excited for this device because I can see all the cameras in one place. I'm to maybe replace the home part here in the studio with the device like that.

Intercom is really cool. And the only useful way I found to use IT is like shortcuts. So most people probably are not using IT. They don't even know the thing. So I think bringing features like that to the forefront would be great for users, but they do have to solve like that entreprise.

Like where do people get started? And I would like just to hear about smart more often like apple events, like you just don't hear a lot about IT. This out good is right up there with like corporate decisions that no one should have ever made like right there.
