Becky Bliefnick was found dead on her bathroom floor after being shot 14 times by an intruder who broke into her home through a window.
The surveillance footage showed a person walking around Becky's house and casing it on February 14th and 22nd, leading investigators to suspect a planned attack.
Tim Bleifnick was the focus of the investigation due to his extensive Google searches about breaking into homes, silencers, and gun residue, as well as his possession of a crowbar and a multi-tool similar to those used at the crime scene.
The motive was Tim's desire to avoid unfavorable outcomes in the upcoming court hearing for their divorce, including not getting full custody of the children and having to pay child support and alimony.
Becky tried to get a protection order against Tim because she felt threatened by his behavior, including his emotional and psychological abuse, and his refusal to support her dreams and goals.
Tim claimed he was at home with the kids, but this alibi couldn't be confirmed, and his electronic devices showed he was researching and planning the crime around the time it occurred.
Becky's family and friends believed Tim was the murderer due to his controlling behavior, threats, and the overwhelming evidence pointing to him, including his Google searches and the presence of a crowbar and multi-tool at his home.
Tim's online persona, where he appeared as a happy, fun-loving family man, contrasted sharply with the evidence of his planned and cold-hearted murder of Becky, indicating a facade to hide his true intentions.
Tim Bleifnick was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion, and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Tim appealed his conviction, arguing that evidence such as the crowbar and Google searches should not have been admitted, and that there were potential issues with bias from the presiding judge.
