Hello, this issue of The New Book is brought to you by Qinping Du.

Welcome to the first episode of "New Book Red Black Box" I'm Baozi, a content creator. The new book I'm going to introduce today is "Trust" published by Shanghai E-Writer and published in May. This book is completely called the annual masterpiece of foreign literature introduced this year. After all, "Trust" won the Pulitzer Prize in 2023 and is about to be changed to a limited series. It is really not surprising that Oscar-winning actor Kurt Weissel, famous director Todd Haynes, and HBO TV will work together again.

It can be said that Dias borrowed the many views of the Loosens, first to create and then to deconstruct the era of 1902, a financial boom that was in full swing in the ancient world crisis, and his mysterious wife's myth. Here I will tell you the truth. Without the truth, this book would not have been written.

I read the journey of trust, it can be said that it is a three-way street, just like a roller coaster. The first "Turret" is a story that feels like a very F. G. R. D. story. The descendants of Old Money, a person who originally did not care about money, later changed and became a non-experienced financial tycoon. After that, he met a woman from a foreign country. The lonely and special couple became the hot topic of the money world. Unfortunately, after a while, the family mental illness of women started to develop.

and even suffered unfair treatment from her husband, and died in a tragic way. And Jin Rong Da Heng also went to a life of loneliness. Yes, it's very old-fashioned, but there is a saying in the literature that it does learn a little bit of the simple and coldness of non-Siddiq. Especially when the two meet at the party, they realize that this is the part of the arrangement of fate that can be said to make people look at it with a heart. But after all, this is a very old-fashioned story, a fairly difficult-to-read Da Heng novel.

The second one, "The Writer's Writer's Life", is quite boring. It's very similar to the first one, but the writing is more hard. There are also many similar rough drafts. Of course, these are not big problems. Is the writing bad? Isn't the narrative wonderful? It's a very common problem for a novel. It should be the author's deliberate decision.

But the most unbearable thing is that the female protagonist's image in the first part was not only not improved, but also weakened. The female description in the belt is indeed very objective. A Moorish noble who is waiting to be saved finally won the fate of a financial man.

In my life, the woman in this author's pen is completely my own rich maid. I can't see her self-sufficiency at all. In the twist, the deep description of the woman's family background and psychological activities is of course not preserved. There are only a few words left to say, and this is not something that can be explained with simple writing. So after reading the second part, I did lose my trust in sex for the time being. I've been holding it for a long time, and I can't even mention sex.

But fortunately, after a week, other things distracted my attention, I re-realized my trust, and therefore read the second half that surprised me. Opening the third chapter, we will suddenly find that the novel comes to a subjective perspective. I, Ada, wrote this chapter about the memory of the memory path. Who is the protagonist of this memory path? He is Andrew Bevere, the founder of my life.

Ada bought a memory book for Andrew to write about herself and her wife, and the book was filled with lies, preventing the spread of her life.

I'm 100% sure that this third part is my favorite part. Because of Ada's subjective perspective, the whole novel seems to be alive. Not only did it sweep away the boring and boring of the first two episodes, but it also brought the story to a new level. Especially in this part, the scene where Elias used Ada to help Andrew write the "Memory Road", it deeply discussed four very important issues in contemporary society: money, gender, narrative, and power.

The memory of Andrew, Ada's life, and Mildred's image are intertwined. Dias said in an interview: "I am very interested in money, because it plays a central role in all the relationships we have every day. It is like the only existing limitless top, invading people's lives, emotions, even history and truth. Reality makes people sad, but we can't escape it."

However, in the US, money is used as a big economy. On the one hand, it is priceless. Money is important. Without money, you will die. But on the other hand, it is mysterious. We can't talk about it. So how does it work? Why is this kind of power so important to us?

From the topic, "Trust" is a financial novel, so it's important to throw out some answers to this question. Diaz admitted that he found some answers. The more abstract the financial business, the more unpredictable it is, and the more it has an impact on the material life of our daily lives.

The most interesting conversation I had with him was with his father, an Italian immigrant who brought his wife to the US. A non-governmental supporter of the government. His father opposed to capitalism and supported his ideas. He believed that in a cycle of normalization, workers were working in the brain of the unhumanized,

and buy them. Because of this, he is very popular with the big sales. He thinks that in this way, the people of Shu Boxu will be aware of their historical experience and material conditions, and thus trigger a revolution.

Naturally, he also hates financial capital, and believes that financial capital is the root of all social injustice. Money, in his eyes, is a product of a pure and wonderful form. He can't eat or wear, but it represents all the clothes in the world. It is a virtual, and this makes him able to measure the standards of all our other products.

As for reality, it is a virtual purchase with unlimited budget. Money is the core of everything in reality. It is the illusion that we all agree to support. We may be different in other issues such as politics or faith, but we all agree that money, this abstract, represents the virtual purchase of specific goods. Finally, he summed up with Marx's words: "Money is not a thing, it is a potential thing." Therefore, it has nothing to do with all things. Money does not represent the people he owns at all. Money and personal relationships are completely accidental.

In a time when the global economy is not in a good state, suddenly seeing this picture makes you feel like you're being fooled. Money has nothing to do with one's nature. It can't represent this person, it can't define this person, or even be separated from this person. But think about it carefully, this picture is also a trap. Denying the positive meaning of money, just treating it as an accident, refusing to admit that it has any legitimacy, this is obviously absurd in modern society. Why not be more active and more active in embracing the business community?

Ada, who started working in Wall Street, clearly realized the absurdity of her father's words. He asked with a heavy heart, "What property or quality is not accidental to you?" Obviously, refusing to embrace the business will not make a person look more bitter.

But in the process of embracing money, we must also be careful about our relationship with it. The change of the "don't care about money" to the "big hunk" of money impressed me greatly. He didn't care about his wealth growth, but a chance of success made him realize that there was a sense of hunger deep inside. Before the big yo-yo activated it, he didn't realize the existence of this feeling of hunger.

About this change, Diaz believes that most people are greedy, but they are different from each other in the way they trigger greed. For the man in the belt, he is not interested in what he can buy, but in expanding the building of currency and capital.

And so is Andrew Bevere in real life. He even wants to buy the truth with money. In order to suppress the hate of his own, Andrew bought the publishing house and bought every book printed and printed into paper. In the end, he couldn't even find this book in the library, as if he had never published it at all. At the same time, Andrew also filed a lawsuit against the author of the tape and threatened other publishing companies not to cooperate.

This is the part of money that makes people look up to. When money reaches an amazing amount, it can reappear.

Gender is a very important topic in this novel. The memory path of Andrew and his wife Mildred is the center of the book. Because of death, Mildred has been unable to appear. Therefore, the story of the two always exists only in Andrew's mouth. In explaining to Ada why she had to rewrite a memory path, Andrew said that he did not allow this shameful pinch to become his own life story. Because the sad story of the belt will taint the memory of his wife.

The life of Mildred was always a very important factor in his mouth. He said his wife had never had any kind of mental illness. She is a bright-eyed, calm and calm woman. How can such a kind and gentle person like her be accused like this? Listen to how well this is said. It's not just for me to make a fortune like me. And my wife. I don't allow her to be insulted like that. This reason sounds really great. But the next sentence still makes Andrew angry.

How can anyone point out to me that I am responsible for his son to some extent? Why would that useless writer say that I would allow him to accept some crazy medical experiments? You must realize that I can't let this statement be established no matter what. Look, Lucien, this sentence is the premonition of Andrew's consciousness. It's just that he doesn't admit it and doesn't want to show it. The image of the wife in large extent is also a kind of restoration of his image in the public reader.

Although he always talks about his wife, Andrew doesn't really care about Mildred. Ada and Andrew always talk about Mildred like this. First, Andrew says he cares about her. Then Ada is curious about some of Mildred's life details. Then Andrew just makes fun of it, saying he doesn't remember much, and only gives his own wife image. For him, nothing is too complicated or too mysterious. This is the final definition he gave his wife.

It's like knowing that the two will have a concert at home, and Ada asks Mildred about the musician she likes. Andrew just made a fool of himself, saying he didn't remember, maybe just a few. And he emphasized to Ada: "I'm not writing this book to get more opinions, this is my story." In addition, Ada's story also has a very important man who also has sexual discrimination. He is Ada's father.

After Sam, Ada found comfort in other women. They are female 推理 novelists such as Agatha Christie and Mary Reinhart.

In Aida's view, the order of order in their novels can comfort her. Feelings and meanings are challenged. But after a short period of lawlessness and chaos, order and harmony will always recover. These women make her understand that she does not have to obey the concept of achievement in the world of women. Although violence is involved in the book, violence is under their control.

In his and his father's family life, the books are very important. At dinner, he will tell his father about the whole novel, plus his own guess and prediction. His father is very concerned about every detail of the story. At this time, Ada will lead him to the chessboard, let his father chase after the red-flying fish, and use this to enhance the surprise of hearing the final ending. And after following the misguided clues set by Ada, his father did not say once that the murderer must be a spoiled stepson or a cold-blooded heir.

He realized that his father was lying to him, and it was through a conversation with Bevere. In the details of the life of the story and his wife, Mildred, he naturally used the story of Ada and said, "Most of the time, I will successfully solve the case based on the clues he gave me, but I'm careful not to let him know all this. I always guess that a secretary or a steward is the murderer, and when Mildred reveals the real murderer, I pretend to be shocked."

At this time, Ada realized that although she had not experienced all this, Beller's thoughts and thoughts were undoubtedly her father's inner activities, and her father's reaction to her in real life was the same as Ada's father's. Ada's father is a more complex character. He himself faces dual discrimination, an Italian immigrant and a non-governmental supporter. But the most ironic thing is that it seems that he and the rich and rich Andrew Beller are far apart, but they finally meet.

Although the reasons are different, they don't believe in the country, and they are very envious. In Ada's memory, her father is very good at emotional monopoly. When he is in a good mood, everyone should be happy to listen to him sing, laugh, and participate in any of his plans. But every time he is depressed and wronged, he must pay the price for others.

For example, when Ada started to be a female artist in Wall Street, her father was full of disdain and resentment towards her. He started to feel that his daughter gradually became a capitalist woman who was brainwashed by money. What made Ada even more shocked was when she came to the end of the story of "Wayne's Written Poetry" and found out that her father had betrayed her deeply.

As Dias said, the main purpose of his creation of Ada's father is to explain that the maid is a cross-class and a different ideology. A leftist anarchist is still very anti-feminist and conservative in family politics. Unfortunately, this is not rare.

I've been talking about many topics, but the one I like the most is the perfect display of her literary beauty. From the first fictional novel, the second memory of the original, to the third memory of the female perspective, and finally reaching the fourth diary of the female protagonist. The author's rights are gradually transferred from male to female, and our readers' emotions are getting higher and higher. It's like following Dias, I see the face of a woman who has long been ignored by the financial world. But when I calm down, I feel a little awkward again.

Male characters are all one-sided, becoming extremely negative. This is not a problem. But Mildred, the woman behind this successful man, is gradually defined as a female alpha. This is a bit boring.

After all, although the last step of the future was written by Mildred herself, the narrative in the whole book also has the important factor of others. The future is chosen by Ada. The characters in the book become to a certain extent the self-reflection of the writer or the chosen one. Can I think that the final truth has become a tool? Are these four parts from the false to the real? To this, Dias also made his own answer.

The term "foolish woman" and "great man" have existed for a long time, but he wants to explore other terms and phrases again, such as the text of the diary. When people read diaries, they have a special feeling and expectation, like they are entered into the most private field of the author. But he thinks that the diary itself is a kind of script, a record of one's own. But readers tend to believe in this kind of script, and think it is a timely reaction that one does not practice.

But in fact, as long as it's a human, they will self-mythicize. Even if it's in the diary, they will perform. Because of this, he doesn't think he can find the truth about this person in any first-person narrative. Diaries are also a form of narrative. Trust brings me a very strong feeling that we are all involved in the strengthening of narrative.

Since ancient times, power and narrative are deeply tied. Dias said that he could understand when writing "Trust", power can control narrative. If you have a channel of information transmission, you can already influence and create the direction of narrative, suppress some voices or raise some other voices. And he is more interested in the other side of the coin. Power also needs to rely on narrative to provide legitimacy for oneself. Without narrative, there is no power. Any powerful political power, financial power, all have to tell stories.

In summary, all the topics mentioned above: money, gender, and narrative can all be power. The third part of the scene of trust broke my usual influence on power. Ada, who is already writing for Andrew, is sitting with her father and her lovely boyfriend. She watched the two men opposite her talk about national politics in a loud voice. She was excited, as if they were part of it.

Ada suddenly got a hangover, and remembered the environment that Andrew and her influenced. She said to herself, "If they knew how to make the real decision, if they heard the real voice of the whole world, if they saw how far they were from any actual power." In the Bevere Investment Company's test and interview, Ada learned for the first time that she had the opportunity to prove herself in her life. The closer to the source of power, the quieter.

Power and money are nestled in silence, and can be measured by the depth of their energy to measure the range of influence of a person. Originally, after reading "Trust", I calmed down and thought that this could only be a clever work that fits the current political point of view. But not long ago, I saw the scandal of the Canadian newspaper writer Alice Monroe being exposed, and I really discovered the end of trust.

After learning that her second husband had a crush on her daughter, Menlo did not give her any sympathy or help, but she kept covering up for her husband. Everyone around Menlo, family, writers, and some intellectuals in the literature world chose silence without exception. Menlo also used her power and reputation to control the other people in the family.

And for the truth, there is a bigger demand for her. For her, the most important thing is to rewrite everything. She is now in a position where others will believe. She hopes her story can become part of her mother's literary legacy. If we put it in the past, we may only learn about her from the stories of fortune-telling, gossip and history. But now she has the opportunity, the channel, the power to say everything, create her own narrative,

This is the greatest meaning of my belief in this book. Dias has shown everyone that narrative is power. Any narrative that was once regarded as authority may be rewritten today. So I think that the belief of Hernan Dias is a priceless masterpiece.
