They tracked the last known location of Captain Althar's life to Pondicherry, where the temple of The Surakula is located, and believed it connected to Tonga Bajwa in London.
A massacre took place where most people were shot, and the sacred stone, the sa cooler, was taken. The bodies suggest locals tried to protect the stone upon hearing of the threat.
The stone wolf was the protector of the sacred stone, similar to how Mary described it in her father's bedtime stories.
They used Mary's father's bedtime story as a guide, identifying the flying foxes and the jungle of fire (the vine they had to burn) to find their way through.
The writing, 'Abdul ka dust akbar,' and an incomplete name suggest a connection to Mary's past in Afghanistan, where she was held hostage by soldiers mentioning a dollar khan.
They realized the Sign of Four had been in the temple and might still be a threat in London, especially to Tonga Bajwa, a 14-year-old boy.
The locals were tuned in to the story and myth of the temple but did not reveal much, suggesting they knew something but were cautious about sharing information.
They planned to set up a tent outside the spooky temple and spend the night there, hoping to get answers about the sa cooler and the danger to Tonga and Mary.
The train journey was part of their adventure to track down the temple of The Surakula and the Sign of Four, connecting it to Tonga Bajwa in London.
The guide, Chuck, advised them to observe secret things and be cautious, suggesting the temple was not easy to navigate and had hidden dangers.
INDIANA HOLMES AND THE TEMPLE OF PONDICHERRY - yeah you read that right. I never thought we'd find ourselves in such a location, for such a reason, on such an adventure. It was time to track down the temple of The Surakula, to track The Sign of Four and to understand how it all connected to Tonga Bajwa back in London.
