Alrighty, let's get into our players. First, we have Kamisha Richards, who is our victim. And then we have Kayla KK Henriquez, who is our murderess.

Camisha Richard born in 1988 and Kayla Enriquez born in 1992 were best friends. They both lived in the Cypress Hill Housing Project in Brooklyn, New York. Although Kayla, known as KK, was four years younger than Camisha, they were still inseparable. Kayla was quiet and shy but Camisha was the total opposite. She loved to talk and she could argue somebody down. She had a mouth on her. Camisha looked at KK as a little sister

Like, you know, this is my little baby and I'm going to take care of her. Wherever you see one, you're going to see the other. Right. Especially around the neighborhood. Right. Yeah, when Kayla was young, when she was about five years old, her mother passed away and her dad wasn't really around. So she really leaned on Kamisha ever since she was fairly young. Not just as a best friend, like we said, as like an older sister. Right.

During her teenage years, she was living with her older brother. And when she was 16 years old, she called up her good friend Kamisha and told Kamisha that she was in trouble and she was pregnant.

Kamisha, being the person that she is, she wanted to make sure she wanted to... She was the type of person that wanted to help everybody. She wanted to make sure that everybody was straight, especially KK, especially Kayla. So that's what she did. She was determined to help her throughout the entire pregnancy. As aunties do, you know? I mean, they were like sisters growing up. Exactly. So... And, like, my friends just had babies, and I'm like, ah, anything the baby needs. Anything the baby needs. Like...

How dare my niece or nephew have to want for something? What? No. So not when I'm around. Right. With me, you have whatever you want. So commission had the means to do so at the time. She was the first person from her family to graduate college. She graduated from a magnet high school in 2006. She received a bachelor's from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and was working as a security officer at PJ Morgan and Chase Law.

and was working as a housekeeper and was interning at a law firm okay booked and busy talking about when did she have the time to wipe her ass like listen when did she have the time to breathe i'm just saying like she's trying to get up out the hood i feel that she was also dating kayla's older brother ramel

right and even though he was much older than Kayla remember that doesn't make him that much older than Kamisha because Kamisha was four years older than Kayla right so these two were very much in love and they were described as joined at the hip and they were all like a big family you know they all lived under one roof you know Kayla with her brother but also with her best friend aka sister

AKA sister-in-law. You know what I mean? Right. Like just really a family fair living in his house. Right. Which is probably helpful to Kayla because baby Alex is on the way. Right. And baby Alex has no daddy and she needs all the help that she can get. And what better help to have than your family? Right.

So, when the baby was born, Kamisha, of course, fell in love with this baby and baby Alex. And she would do anything she could for this baby, you know. She was buying this baby new shoes, new clothes. And she would even try and give KK advice about what to do for the baby, which is...

Which was low-key annoying for Kayla. She was like, yeah, I know I'm a teenager, but this is my baby, and I'm this baby's mama. I feel that, though. I don't have no kids, and I don't feel like I have the say-so. Also, I'm not living with a baby. You know what I'm saying? There's no baby in my house with somebody. I do not have no kids, but I think especially with my youngest sister...

Like, I don't try and overstep bounds, but I do be like, you should be doing this and you should be doing that. But there's also a bound. There's a boundary.

I think it's more in how you put it. I tell her all the time. I be like, I be happy. We were on a road trip arguing. And my nephew asked, can he have some chips? And I'm like, me and my sister arguing over if the boy can have chips. I'm like, why you let him eat chips, you know? Let him eat some real food. He want chips. He hungry. Then give him actual food. And we sit in here arguing. And I'm like, you know what? It's your kid. Do what you want. She was like, no, I mean, you right. Sorry. You can't have no chips because Tazzy won't let you. Like, okay.

But, I mean, she hear what I'm saying, you know? Right. And know, like, I'm not just saying this for no reason. Like, he should have ate when the real food was being pulled. But I don't really want everybody's opinion. That is also true, you know? Because my other sister, I don't offer up my opinion. Because she don't want it. She doesn't want it. There it is. Got to know your audience. So, Kamisha would give Kayla pretty much anything she wanted, anything she needed, especially when it came down to the baby. Right.

but kamisha was starting to feel used you know what i'm saying she's like all right i'm doing a lot of things for you even her boyfriend which is kayla's brother was like bae you are doing a lot like slow down you're giving all your money to the baby like just you know save a little stop giving her away her family's like you're doing a lot for the baby but she don't care when you're young

And you love that baby. Like, of course. But Kamisha, that little, you know, itching feeling in the back of her mind that she was being used really came to a head because Kayla asked her for $20. And she said she needed that $20 to go buy Alex some diapers. Kamisha, come home. That $20 was not used to buy no diapers. So what does she do? She walks right up to Kayla. She's like, so where's my $20 since you didn't use it on diapers? Kayla, of course, doesn't have it.

and Camisha's like I thought you needed it I thought you needed it for the baby but you didn't even use it for the baby diaper so why you don't need my $20 true I gave you money for the I gave Alex $20 right baby Alex got $20 Kayla don't so they frustrated they're separated and Kayla kind of does what a lot of people do at the time at this time she's 18 years old she gets on Facebook

And she doesn't say who pissed her off, but it's clear that she's pissed off. And it's clear that she needs to blow off some steam, very much venting on Facebook. And while she is venting on Facebook, then Kamisha comments under and is like, and that's why I ain't gonna let you call me out of no more money. And that's why you owe me $20. And Kayla's like, hey, chill. This is Facebook.

She's like, no, no. You owe me $20. And going off on Facebook about how she owes her $20. And finally, Kayla's like, all right, listen, bitch. Like, what you're not going to do is you're not going to come for me here on Facebook. And she says... And Kayla's like, listen, you're not about to make me act out of character here on the book. And Kamisha's like, I don't give a fuck, okay? You know your sister. And it's not about the $20. It's about the principle. It's always about the principle. It's always about the principle. And it is. You know what I'm saying? She gave you $20 for...

Baby Alice, you blew that $20 I gave you. You know, here's the thing, though. Don't ever lend money that you're not okay with giving back. Even if they owe it back to you. Even if you said, I understand the principle. But from there, she should have been like, you better just not know to ask me again. Lesson learned. I don't think it was about her owing her money. It's not. It was about the principle. It was always about the principle. But...

Asking for your money back is never going to work out the way you want it to. Right. When niggas owe you something and you start pressing them for money, you never get it back. That's why they had to borrow the money from you in the first place because they're not good with it. They can't keep it. They're not good for it. Right.

So Kayla's like, listen, what you're not going to do is you're not going to be trying to expose me on Facebook. So at this point, Kayla's a little embarrassed. Like you, yeah, I'm benton bitch, but you have to tell everybody that I owe you $20. Right. Trying to check me and shit on Facebook. And Camisha's like, you know what, Kayla, I'm done with that. Kayla, please. And Kayla's like, no, no, no. We here now. You know,

don't stop now. We on Facebook. You know what I'm saying? And Camisha's like, girl, bye. I will see you when I get to the house. Kayla said, listen, when I get there, I'm not coming to talk. Mm.

Them fighting words. Kamisha was like, all right, Kayla, now you getting out of hand. Okay, we on Facebook. I hope you have fun entertaining the world, but I'm going to have the last laugh. And that's when Kayla just simply replied, we'll see. Allegedly, there was some texting back and forth between the two girls. Some nasty text messages were exchanged that we don't see from Facebook. And the anger that these two had just continued to boil. ♪♪

Kayla's at the house and she over here with her homegirl. She like, this girl think I'm goofy. She think I'm a goofy nigga about to let her talk to me like this. It's not about to happen. So she like, just wait. Just wait till Kamisha come. It's on site. Like, she not about to dog me out like this on Facebook. So Kamisha come home. And Kamisha see all her little homegirls sitting around like they waiting for a fight. Like, oh, it's a show? Oh, it's a show? You want to put on?

And that's the thing. I don't like that. Don't get to act this funny in front of everybody. Don't.

You and I are upset with each other. You and I are upset with each other. And if you my best friend, my little sis, my homegirl. And if you and I are finna fight, then come over here so you and I can fight. Right. Now you done brought a whole audience. You know what I'm saying? And I'm gonna have to show you some. So, Kamisha comes in and she's like, listen, I got one question and one question only. Do you have my $20? And Kayla's like, girl, no. Ain't nobody worried about your little funky ass $20. Kamisha said, I don't.

Not my baby formula.

Cause you know what Cause now you done Disrespected my baby right That's what her head went right Right You took it from me And now you're Disrespected my baby Cause that's my baby food And you put my baby food out Right So now I gotta Now I gotta fight you On behalf of Alex Like I gotta beat your ass On behalf of Alex So It's not just me anymore Right It's bigger than me

So Kayla goes at Kamisha and they get to fight. And let me tell you something. Kamisha is older and she is stronger. She's whooping that ass. Whooping that ass.

And, you know, this was not a good look because Kayla had her homegirls here to see her teach Kamisha a lesson. And Kamisha is teaching her. So all of a sudden, Kamisha runs to the back of the house. Maybe clarity hit her. She was like, why the fuck am I fighting this girl? And let me just get the fuck out of here. But she runs back into her room. Kayla follows. When the commotion goes on, next thing you know, Kayla kind of just runs out the apartment. And then Kamisha comes staggering behind her.

Flood is leaking out and she's like, she stabbed me. I can't believe she stabbed me. Oh God, she really stabbed me. And then fell unconscious. And one of Kayla's friends who was still at the apartment calls 911 shortly after Kayla's brother Romel shows up. Now remember, this is also Kamisha's boyfriend. So he comes home and sees his girlfriend lying on the floor covered in blood and he's just like,

Like, what the fuck happened? And he's really kind of pissed with himself because any other day he would have been home at this time. I don't know what he was doing and had him held up. But this was not the good day, my friend. This is not. He was like, any other day I would have been here, you know? And I think he really feels bad because I think, you know, them on Facebook,

They were arguing for like three days on Facebook. So like this was building and building. And I think Kamisha's mom asked Romel about it. Like, why your sister tripping? He was like, it's just Facebook shit, girl shit. I stay out of it. You know what I mean? And now his girlfriend, his future baby mom, are dead on the floor. You know? Mm-hmm. Romel then takes Kamisha's phone and calls her mother.

And her mom picks up the phone. Hey, Kamisha girl, what's going on, baby? And he was like, it's not Kamisha. She's like, Ramel, what's going on? He's like, I just need you to come back.

to brooklyn kamisha's been in a fight meet us at the hospital so when they get to brookdale university hospital kamisha's mom is like running through the hallways where's my baby where's my child and then she finally sees police officers guarding a door she runs down to the door and she's like yelling out her daughter's name kamisha kamisha kamisha she's not hearing anything and she finally she asked the police officer where the fuck is my child is my child in there police officer kind of looks at her she's like is my child dead police officer just holds her hand

shakes his head and all she does all she can do is drop down in the middle of the hospital romell posted on facebook the next day he was 25 at the time he posted on facebook the next day kamisha i miss you i need you baby now i didn't take them long to find kayla after this

according to the snapped episode there was a trail of blood leading from the apartment to another apartment where kayla was found now when kayla was arrested and taken immediately down to the police station she said i don't think i heard her and if i did it was self-defense she was disrespecting me she was threatening my child she was bugging over twenty dollars and the police are like listen all right let me tell you something camisha's dead and kayla seemed upset but

But not as upset as you would think for your best friend slash sister to literally be dead. So they were like, okay, there's not a lot of remorse going on. And finally, she's like, look, it's not if I did it, then the only reason I did it is because she was tripping because she was coming for me because she was trying to threaten me because she was trying to threaten my child. She was screaming self-defense the entire time.

after she does her confession she eats some chinese food in police custody before she was officially detained and arrested and mug shot and finger so she was arrested for second degree murder which is basically murder with intent but not as like harsh malice as first degree murder so she ended up taking a plea deal a couple years later and in september 30th 2013 kayla ended up pleading guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years

Before her sentencing, while she was at court, most of Kamisha's family got up and spoke. They knew her. They've known her since she was a child. And when the judge asked Kayla if she had anything to say to the court, she looked at him. She looked out at her best friend, Mama, and all of her friends and family. And she didn't have nothing to say.

I always wonder why people make that decision. Like, is it because you feel like no matter what you say, it's going to be twisted and turned up anyways? Or is it something because you don't feel, I don't know. Is it because nothing you say will be good enough? It could be that. And sometimes, you know, you just, I shut down when I'm wrong. Yeah, because it doesn't seem like she had a lot of remorse for her part in it. Not that she necessarily wanted Kamisha dead, but, you know, on Soul Man, Bernie Man said, I might want to kill you, but I never want to hurt you. When he almost shot, you know, you ever seen Soul Man? Her 15 years will be up and she will be looking for life on the outside in 2024. It's said to have started a foundation in honor of Kamisha's memory, but

But for whatever reason, Snap didn't plug that organization. They just mentioned it and kept moving. Alrighty, y'all. It is time for... I'm not black. I'm OG. I ain't do it. But if I did, this is how I would have got away with it. I ain't do it. But if I did, I wouldn't have been venting on Facebook. It's just not...

It's not classy. What they say, keep family business in the house. Keep it in the house. But also, like, even when other people are venting on Facebook nowadays, I'm just like, ugh. I know your business now. I know that your nigga ain't shit now. I know that your best friend ain't shit now.

And see, don't be doing that. I know that your baby just shit up his diaper now. You be publicly outing niggas. You be publicly outing niggas. Like, this nigga did me dirty and then we want to be posted up with that same person. That's why when I was doing that shit and I was going back to the niggas that weren't shit, I stopped posting them. I was just doing my dirty work. You blew it, bro.

I was just doing my dirty work alone. Listen, I didn't do it. But if I did, I just had to get my ass beat and leave it at that. Sometimes you need your ass beat. Sometimes you do need your ass beat. You know, I feel like the reason that Kayla was so upset is because Kamisha was beating her ass and Kamisha low key. I understand why Kayla was wrong. That $20 was wrong. That Facebook message was posting was kind of was petty and is wrong, but

But you spilled that milk. You went in the fridge and got that baby formula. And that's just... And Kamisha Mama was like, look, I know my child's mouth. Check this out, man. None of that is worth her dying. Check this out. Sometimes when you just be feeling real disrespected, you got to make a nigga feel disrespected back. Like this story very much reminds me of an argument that I got into with my youngest sister, Brie. Now that's...

That's like my best friend or whatever. Like we're close as hell, but it's the ones closest to you that really know how to push the button, push your buttons, man. And say some shit that'll really tick you off. I remember this time story time. I remember I had brought some furniture down for our other sister, but I had to take it out my car, her house. And I kept asking her to help me get out the car. I kept asking her to get out the car.

And she didn't. And it's announced the night time. And I'm like, this shit is sitting on my tires. I want out my car. And now she's got people coming over to the house and she wants to drink and party. And we still ain't did what I've been asking to do all day. And now she's got the drinking. So she gained a little a little mouthy. You know what I'm saying? She thinks she's funny and she's not fucking funny. Like I'm not laughing right now.

So I went out there and I was like, fuck it. I'm pulling this shit out. And I left it in front of her apartment complex. She was like, you need to move that shit.

Cuz I'm gonna get you know the office gonna be on my ass about this furniture being up right here on a curb on the sidewalk So I don't give a fuck you even fuck about it being on my shit I'm gonna fuck about it being here. You know she was like this is where I live like you know I don't give a fuck you know so she started to talking or whatever we get to arguing Next thing I know We're in the closet

And I had my hands around her throat. And it's me battling me trying not to choke the shit out of her ass. And I'm telling you, like, we were talking earlier. Mariah was like, why ain't nobody say something? Yeah. Because you don't get into family business. Because it was a nigga there that night talking about Taz Chill. Fuck you. You don't even know my real name.

Don't talk to me. Like, I don't want to hear nobody say... The only people who could say something to me was my other sister and my cousin was there. Because you're the only one who know both of us evenly. And you're like, I don't care what's happening right here. Because I'll show up to this nigga's house and we'll break bread tomorrow. That's my sister. You know what I mean? Right. She just needed her ass beat real quick because she got running off at the mouth. But also to make sure that things didn't go too far...

Thankfully, somebody was at the house. Right. I think the issue is Romel wasn't there yet. If Romel was there, we would have never got that far. Although I cannot see myself picking up a knife to my sister. I can't. Like, I might want to beat your ass, but I don't want to hurt you. You know what I mean? Right. Like, whatever I do, you're going to survive it. So, I don't know. And I guess that's what she was saying because when she was arrested after...

She was officially arrested. They walked her to, like, the police car to send her off from where she was being interrogated. And they took these horrible pictures of her. The media was covering her. She had just finished getting into a fight, running and getting arrested and being interrogated. Her head looked a mess. Mm-hmm. She just got in a fight. Mm-hmm.

And I mean, the media was taking pictures. She was like, it was self-defense. And she's yelling at the media. It was self-defense. Yeah, I did it. But it was self-defense, you know, talking to the media. But they have pictures of her with her mouth open while she's yelling. And it makes her look so crazy. Crazy. And they did that intentionally. And then what is one of the news sources say? I know I got to pull it up. Talking about her hair. It's from News 1. It says, quote,

talking about uh kayla says kayla quote a weary looking henriquez her hair unkept her hands cuffed barked at reporters outside the 75th precinct station house when asked if she felt bad about the slaying and of course she's like no it was a mistake but why is that she said i was protecting my kid why is that the description of her because

Because that's how they do us, bro. That's how they do black women in the media. Right. They love to find that most disheveled picture of you. Like, do you think they care what you look like coming in or out of jail? I can't even find Sissy's mugshot, but you can find that one time where she had just gotten her ass beat by her best friend, killed her best friend, and is headed off to jail. You're talking about she looked unkempt. Yeah, I would look unkempt, too.

They don't give you much to work with in jail neither. She went straight there. Damn near. Right. They could at least. You can't find sissy's mug. I can't find sissy's mug shot. Maybe y'all niggas can find sissy's mug shot. Alrighty. Well, sissy's about to get out. So, parole or no parole? I think 15 years is probably good. I hope. I hope.

She's remorseful. Like, she killed her best friend slash older sister. Right. So she's got a lot to deal with slash her brother's girlfriend. You know what I'm saying? She's got her own family shit to deal with. She's got her own personal shit to deal with. She's got to go figure out, you know, how to connect with her 15-year-old son. Right. 16-year-old son. They're moody at that age. She's got a lot to deal with when she gets out. So all I can do is wish her the best.

Sure, life has been hard enough. It definitely probably I'm sure that it already has. I wonder what that dynamic between her and her brother, you know, is now like that. I love you from a distance or. And you just don't know. Like, I don't know. I'm an only child, but I don't know what I would do in that situation. I can't even fathom that.

That's why you should never date relatives of your friends. So that you don't have to worry about murdering them and losing that relationship? That part. Okay. As long as they're all clear on the rules. Because... I've done it. It hasn't worked out. Alrighty. This says, please read mine on an episode. Y'all are so weird.

This one says, yo, man, y'all are so dope. I love listening to y'all. I've been telling everybody about y'all podcast. I love how you two make me feel like I'm one of y'all's homegirls while we talk about true crime. We finally got some sisters to put on for black women that love true crime and who tell the story right and unapologetically. And please, for the love of chocolate, don't stop with the language and cussing. That's the best part. Yeah.

Other podcasts don't do that. Y'all keep doing what y'all doing because this podcast is giving what it's supposed to give. And you, Mariah and Tazzy most definitely understood the assignment. Love y'all. Thanks. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Miss period, period, slash money sign, close parentheses and then an open parentheses. Thank you. So this one here is from Southern wife. Okay. Says love you ladies.

I found you wonderful ladies through TikTok. Thanks, Mariah. So mad you only have 25 episodes. You are so relatable, even though I'm pretty sure I'm more than a decade older than you ladies. I really hope you keep up the good work. Love the relationship and friendship you have. Hashtag black women who love crime shows. Thanks. Thanks. I too love the friendship and relationship we have. Oh, that's so sweet, friend. Oh, thanks. That's adorable. I do what I can.
