podcast for women who want to unlock the clarity needed to put your big girl panties on and rock your real estate career like the true boss you are. I'm Joanne Bolt, your host, and together we'll dive into the things your broker doesn't teach you in order to own your own truth, disown the things getting in your way to finding your place, and stop apologizing for the obstacles you have to overcome along the way.

Welcome back, everybody. Okay, let's keep talking about reasons you are on the struggle bus of social media in your real estate career. Reason number two is that you keep your personal life private,

and also possibly have a private account on Instagram. All right, ladies. Now, I understand as a mom myself that you might not want your kids being accessible to every person out there on social media. However, you can really be a public person. And in real estate, by essence, you kind of are a public person without oversharing your private lives. If you go to my Instagram at itsjoannbolt,

You will see all kinds of things that I like to do in my personal time. You will see me drink wine. You will see my dog on there. You might see me with friends out and about shopping or at local restaurants. You will rarely see my actual kiddos on the Instagram because I don't want them to be part of the public eye and part of what other consumers get to look at when they're looking through my social media feed. How

However, it is mission critical that you are not totally private about yourself and that you are only posting business related stuff.

Because the honest truth is your potential client needs to get to know you before they ever call you. It is way more likely that they will only want to work with you if they have developed a sense of who you are on your social media. Let me give you a great example. One of my favorite Instagrammers is a lady named Chelsea Pites. Shout out Chelsea because she actually gave me the idea for this series this week.

Chelsea is amazing. Everything she puts on social media is about how to create reels, how to create good content. And a lot of it is geared toward real estate agents.

Now, I have met Chelsea in person, but I made it an effort to do that because I got so used to seeing Chelsea on her Instagram stories and Chelsea in her feed and everything that Chelsea does. I got to know her as a person because she's very human and relatable in her material that she puts out there. So when I wanted someone to come in and teach in the Real Boss Women community on social media, the

The only person I wanted was Chelsea. And now one of her besties, Giselle Ugarte, we've gotten to be friends through Chelsea, but I never would have gotten to reach out to her. And I never would have made sure that these two women were the only ones I was willing to have speak to our groups and teach in our groups. Had I not learned a little about them on social media and

And it's way more than the business aspect of what they post. It's the everyday stuff. It's the stories that they put when they're just rambling about going to the gym and working out. It's their dogs. It's all the other information about them that made me feel like they welcomed me into their life. And therefore, that is who I needed to be my social media go-to. It's no different in your business. If you are out there constantly just

snapping something on an Instagram story about the lunch that you're having with a friend and you give a little bit of a shout out or a blurb to the location or you're out and about. Maybe you show your puppy all the time. Maybe you show your workouts. I don't care what it is, ladies, but you do have to not be completely private about your private life on social media if you want to be the agent that your prospective client trusts.

Let me also point out to you that, especially on Instagram, because we do have the ability to make our feeds public or private, and you ladies would be shocked probably to realize how many of your business pages, like Facebook,

XYZ realtor with XYZ brokerage has publicly put out there on her Instagram page that she is a real estate agent and everything on the top of her page says real estate agent only to find out, guess what? I have to request to follow that real estate agent's Instagram page. Okay. That is like being a store open for business, but I have to make an appointment to come shop with you.

It may work in Beverly Hills. It may work in some places in Paris, but it is not going to work for you as a real estate agent unless your prospective client is absolutely hell-bent on working with you as an agent. If you make it difficult for them to access your online profile, aka making it private so they have to request access, they are going to go on to the next agent in your area. So

You know, if you want to keep a private profile private and that's where you post stuff about your kiddos, that is fine. But your business profile, which again, still needs to show some of your private life, like you with the puppies or having ice cream or a day at the park, that's

That profile has got to be public. You cannot make it private. Otherwise you are really missing the boat on having people DM you and reach out to you to potentially list their home or help them purchase something. Let's also talk about your Instagram reels just for a quick second while we're talking about that private life and public life. Um,

If you want to keep your personal life private, that is fine. But please do make sure that the reels that you're posting on your business account maybe have something to do with real estate. They do not need to be all about market updates or showing listings, opening doors, having open houses. You can do some fantastic reels related to buying and selling homes. You can make them funny. You can kind of poke fun at the market that we're in.

make them relatable, and again, humanize your content because that is what makes people want to work with you. If you think you might need some little bit of help with your social media, or you think, yep, girl, I am ready to really up my game. I'm going to make that

social media profile, public. I'm going to showcase a little bit of my private side, maybe not too much, but enough to give me a human aspect. But you want a little bit of help? Make sure you join us in Atlanta at the end of March for Focus Conference. I will put a link to it in the show notes.

Or you can find us online at robotswomen.com. Giselle Ugarte is coming in. Y'all, it does not get much better than that to have her privately teach you, educate you, and help you get your Instagram up and running. See you then.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Before you go really fast, would you please take a second and go and leave me a review here on the B-Word podcast? It really does make a world of difference to how we show up for new people. And to give you a little thank you, because my mama always taught me that you send a thank you note or something in return for a gift.

We have got a free gift that we are changing every single month here on The B Word. So head on over once you've given your review, grab a screenshot of it, and then go to thebwordpodcast.com forward slash review. Upload it for me and I will send you a free gift immediately. Thanks in advance.
