a podcast for women who want to unlock the clarity needed to put your big girl panties on and rock your real estate career like the true boss you are. I'm Joanne Bolt, your host, and together we'll dive into the things your broker doesn't teach you in order to own your own truth, disown the things getting in your way to finding your place, and stop apologizing for the obstacles you have to overcome along the way.
Welcome back to the B word, everyone. I'm Joanne Bolt, your host. As I sit down to record today's episode, I just want to point out that it is actually not the one that we were going to push out.
We have an interview with Edge Agency's co-founder, Alex Radford, a fantastic woman and friend of mine who does all of our marketing for us here at the B Word and the Real Boss community. And I will play that one and I will push it out next week for your listening enjoyment. But today my heart just had a different message for all of us bosses out there. And here it is.
If you've been around for a hot second and you've been listening, you know that I'm often blunt to the point and very, very honest about what it is to run your real estate business as a female. We look at things from the girl perspective. Today I want to look at things from the mama perspective. And here's where we are. It's the week of Christmas. You guys, it is hectic.
I don't know where you are in the world, but here it's raining, it's cold, and quite frankly, I've been a little salty this morning. I had to just sit down and think about putting things in perspective. And I believe that this is a message that many, many of you need to hear. So put your listening ears on and buckle up buttercups. I am someone who curses like a sailor, drinks like a fish.
and is a very faith-filled believer of Jesus. You may not even realize that about me. And for that, I apologize. Here's something that I needed to get off my chest and out into the world for everyone who needs to hear this message today. There are things I can and cannot help. My kids' holiday party got canceled. I can't help that.
My husband has been sick with the flu for the past week and has not left the basement. I can't help that. Half the stuff that I went to the grocery store to buy for our Christmas dinner was not in stock or available. I can't help that. We've had closings get pushed because buyers or sellers have COVID. We can't help that.
We've had financing fall through for some of our clients because appraisers were sick and couldn't make it out and we missed appraisal deadlines. We can't help that. But what we can help folks is our attitude. As women, our homes look to us and our children look to us for guidance and examples. I have to set aside my salty attitude and realize I can't help what's making me irritable.
What I can help is my attitude. What I can help is how I look at the world and have some perspective. Yes, we have the flu in our home. It's not life-threatening. Yes, there are items missing from our Christmas dinner list. Okay, we're not starving. Yes, there are closings that got pushed until next week or even next year. We're not financially unstable. It's okay.
These are inconveniences, but not life altering things. Sometimes we get so hectic and busy doing all the shopping, all the wrapping, all the grocery going, all the preparing of the meals, all the things of the holiday that we forget that just sitting down with our kids, our husbands, our family, that's actually way more important than the particular gift wrapped under the tree.
And here's my encouragement to all of you out there listening. I pray that you are not affected with COVID. I pray that you don't get sick this season. I pray that if you're financially in trouble, that things turn around for you in 2022.
I just pray over you ladies, because I know what it takes for me to run my household. And I can only imagine what it takes you to run yours and just know this one day, there will be no more pain. There will be no more fear. There will be no more uncertainty because we have a father above us who loves us. And one day we will see Jesus.
Like the song from Crowder says, good God almighty. He is great. He is the reason for this season. And I wish you all a Merry Christmas.
