Publisher's Summary: Parties are a lot of work, and they can be costly. Finding a place to hold your event, getting people to attend, making it run smoothly, setting it up, and tearing it down can require an immense amount of effort. Nonetheless, it's quite a bit of fun to hang out with a group of friends in the organized environment of a party. There's something special about socializing, hanging out, talking, being entertained, eating, drinking, and just having a good time together. Listen to this book and learn:
Members Reviews: Great book with some interesting and creative ideas for entertaining. Interesting book that presents some very creative entertaining ideas. I would love to see some pictures of the author,s parties. I really commend him for changing his outlook and his willingness to be more outgoing after his wife died. The author is also a very detailed person and some basic lists would be appreciated by a person just starting to entertain. Small vs large gatherings, pot luck vs. catered parties, sit down dinner vs. stand up cocktails etc. Would be great for him to outline and cover.
It's Party Time Richard puts into words all those things that you think you knew about throwing a party PLUS a whole lot more that you probably never thought of. And it was easy to read and follow. Read it and not only will your next party be easy to throw, but I bet you will enjoy it a whole lot more. (Whoever would have thought to ask older guest children to help with stuff.) Please note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Great book with lots of information to help you throw an awesome party This is a great book with lots of great information. I have thrown many parties but I did not enjoy them as much as I should have. This book provided me with many ideas and also gave me a lot to think about. I plan on implementing some of the suggestions is this book the next time I host a party. I always dreaded the planning but when you have a list of things to do it doesn't seem so tedious. I also learned how to throw a party for 10 people or so or a couple hundred. If you want to have a successful gathering, I suggest reading this book.I was provided a copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
A useful guide! This is a charming and incredibly useful guide. It's written in a colloquial manner; sort of like a friend reminding another of the essential considerations for throwing a party. It is, however, well thought out. I recommend it for folks who are unfamiliar with entertaining, and even for some who may have some familiarity with social events. Well done, Mr. Lowe!
Your go to book for party planning basics! I've thrown a number of parties over the years. Before reading this book, I had a preconceived notion of the content of this book. However, the author took party planning from a different perspective. He offers information on throwing a party for a small gathering up to one for a couple hundred people at different venues and what to expect throughout the planning process. This book offers a guideline to what to think about when planning, who to call, location, liabilities (especially dealing with alcohol), and examples of why to have a party (something I didn't think about, but truly smart insertion). One of the best sections is about creating memories and steps he took to help memorialize those memories. If you get a chance, read this book.
