How businesses connect with customers defines their brand. Sierra is the AI platform for building better, more human customer experiences. The House narrowly passed President Trump's flagship tax and spending bill this afternoon to the benefit of some tech stakeholders and the detriment of others. Chipmakers that break ground on new plants in the U.S. will see their tax credit increase, and Silicon Valley investors will enjoy a bigger tax break from the qualified small business stock provision. But the bill also ends subsidies for electric vehicle purchases and leases, and it limits tax credits on renewable energy projects.

A provision that would have limited state-level regulation of AI was stripped from the bill earlier this week.

Meanwhile, across the pond, top European companies including Mistral and Airbus have asked the European Commission to delay the full enforcement of its new Artificial Intelligence Act for two years. The companies, in a letter, said overlapping and complicated regulations in the bloc are hindering the EU's ability to become a leader in AI. The EU has faced calls in recent weeks to reconsider its landmark AI rulebook, which entered into force last year.

And finally, the restaurant technology provider Olo is going private. Buyout firm Tom Abravo has agreed to acquire the company in an all-cash deal. Olo said the $2 billion transaction would help the platform accelerate its growth. Before we go, a heads up that there are some changes in the works here at TMB. We'll be off tomorrow for Independence Day in the US, and when we come back on Monday, we'll be on a new schedule.

Regular episodes of Tech News Briefing will show up in your feed on Tuesdays and Fridays. And, in addition to the afternoon Tech Minute, we'll also have an AM Tech Minute on weekdays to get you more tech news faster. That's all starting on Monday, July 7th. Until then, have a great weekend.
