Hi, thank you for listening to Chasing Life, a podcast aimed to help encourage you to chase a positive, healthy, and fulfilling life. I'm your host, Sarah Kane, and I'm so grateful you decided to join me. I'm a single 30-something dog mom, runner, and higher educational professional.
After struggling with a quarter-life crisis where I learned a lot about myself, I pursued and earned my MBA, got the good job, bought a house, but still struggle with fulfillment and continue to chase goals in running my career and life. I feel called to share what I've learned and continue to learn in the hopes that my story and tips will help make an impact on your day and help you feel less alone. Let's chase life together.
Hello and welcome to another episode of Chasing Life. Today's episode is going to be a life lesson. It's something that was inspired by me hearing the same message from two different sources this week and so I thought that it was kind of a sign that I needed to share that message because when you teach something that you learn it gets ingrained in your brain a lot more than if you just read it or hear it.
So the life lesson of this week is to do things that force you out of your comfort zone. Now, the first time I heard this was from a new mentor that I'm beginning to build a relationship with. It's a colleague that I work with on my campus and it's
He was trying to guide me and give me tips on my career development, including things like networking, going to conferences, improving my skill sets, but also to challenge myself and do things out of my comfort zone because that will help me to grow as a person and will help me to just develop and gain new skills. And it will help me to learn more.
new things. And the second time was in a podcast the next day. And so two days in a row, I was hearing the same message. And it's like, there's the universe is sending these signs that I need to share this with you. So doing something out of your comfort zone could be
Anything. It could be starting a new workout routine. It could be going to a different grocery store, taking a different route to work, committing to a long-term fitness challenge, so a long bike ride or triathlon or marathon or 5k or 30-day push-up challenge or a walking challenge, a step challenge.
Something that is different from what you're currently doing. So start a new podcast, read a nonfiction book on a topic that is outside your normal realm of interest. Start a gratitude journal, strike up conversations with strangers, send an email or ask for help.
Apply for the job you've been looking for, but you're scared to pursue. Go on a trip to somewhere new. Have a tough conversation with someone. These are all things that will challenge you. That challenge will help you to grow. So I hope you found this helpful today. And I would love to hear what challenge you are taking on. Send me a DM in Instagram at SarahChasingLife. I'd love to cheer you on and hear your successes.
So until next week, have a great week. Thank you for listening. If you enjoyed today's episode, please be sure to subscribe and leave a review. I would love to hear from you. Even better, take a screenshot and tag me in your Instagram stories at SarahChasingLife.
