此外,"pulling someone's leg"也有相同的意思,但"you're having me on"使用频率更高。 此外,我还解释了"you're having me on"这个表达的用法,以及它与"pulling someone's leg"的区别。虽然两者意思相近,但"you're having me on"更为常用,也更轻松随意,适合在朋友或家人之间使用。

Hello and welcome to Authentic Real English, where we explain phrases used by fluent English speakers so that you can use them as well. I'm Feifei and I'm here with Beth. Hi Feifei. I've got some exciting news. I won the lottery yesterday and now I am super rich. You can come over to my mansion this weekend if you like. Really? Yeah.

No, I'm just having you on. I didn't win the lottery. I'm only joking. Oh, you really had me on there. And that's a great example of our phrase, have someone on. It's a great example of a phrase

It means you're joking or teasing someone, making them believe something that isn't true. Exactly. It's a playful trick, but it isn't mean at all. It's just a joke. A bit like when my best friend told me she'd met the king. She said they'd had coffee and cake and chatted all day and then I realised she was having me on. No way! Well, something happened to me the other day. I came into the office and then Neil told me that we were all given that day off.

So, I was ready to pack up and go and then realised he was having me on. That is really annoying. Let's hear some more examples of have someone on. My son told me he's been picked to play football for England's schoolboys. I think he's having me on. My sister told me she's got a new boyfriend and it's this famous actor. I think she's having me on. What? We've been picked for the finals. You're having me on. I think she's having me on.

你正在收听的是 BBC 英语教学的地道英语节目。 以上我们一起学习了表达 have someone on 的用法。 Have someone on 的意思是欺骗捉弄某人。 在英国,人们常用这个表达来形容常是让某人对玩笑话信以为真的做法。

Now, we often say you're having me on when you don't believe what you're hearing. You think it's so unbelievable that it must be a joke. Yes, that's right. 当你不相信对方所说的话或者认为对方在开玩笑的时候,就可以说 you're having me on,你在哄我。 除此之外,pulling someone's leg 也可以用来表达相同的意思。 不过相比之下,you're having me on 的使用频率更高。

另外,这两个表达都很轻松随意,非常适合日常在和朋友或家人的交流中使用。 Well, Beth, I've got to go now. I'm flying to Australia in a few hours. Really? Oh, you're having me on. Well, that's all from us. We'll be back next time with another useful English phrase. Bye bye. Bye bye.
