Hi, thank you for listening to Chasing Life, a podcast aimed to help encourage you to chase a positive, healthy, and fulfilling life. I'm your host, Sarah Kane, and I'm so grateful you decided to join me. I'm a single 30-something dog mom, runner, and higher educational professional.
After struggling with a quarter-life crisis where I learned a lot about myself, I pursued and earned my MBA, got the good job, bought a house, but still struggle with fulfillment and continue to chase goals in running my career and life. I feel called to share what I've learned and continue to learn in the hopes that my story and tips will help make an impact on your day and help you feel less alone. Let's chase life together.
Hello and welcome to another episode of Chasing Life. I'm your host Sarah and today we're talking about running and struggling with running motivation. Here are five tips to give you a motivational kick. One, remind yourself of your reason for running. Why did you start? How do you feel when you complete a run? Two, run with other people. Not only will the accountability get you to show up, but having a friend to talk to will help the miles fly by.
3. Explore new terrain. Change up your route. Check out a new trail. This will help to break up the monotony and get you excited about where you're going. 4. Immerse yourself in running stories. Books, podcasts, movies, articles. Not only will you appreciate the sport more, but you'll pick up tips and tricks. 5. Set goals and measure your progress. Tracking your progress reminds you of everything you are accomplishing and how much you are improving.
What are some of your favorite running stories? My favorite running related book is Marathon Woman by Katherine Switzer. And I highly encourage this, especially for female runners, because this is a story about Katherine, who is the first registered woman who completed the Boston Marathon. It's her story of training. It's her story of being an advocate for women in running. And it's really just very inspirational.
My favorite running podcast is currently Strength Running by Jason Fitzgerald. He covers topics as nutrition, strength, movement, physical therapy. It's really been very educational and I'm really enjoying that podcast right now. And my favorite running movie is an oldie but a goodie, Pre. Steve Prefontaine ran in the 60s and he's really just an inspirational runner whose life was cut too short.
